Precipice was a female SkyWing who was introduced in The Hybrid Prince. She was the Queens' Claw of the SkyWing tribe. She was an animus and enchanted the Dungeon Isle and the SharpWings.

Description

Precipice had darker orange scales, and had the face of someone who was always doing math problems with part of her brain. She wore the Queen's Claws necklace, with nine different claws hanging from it, including a crocodile, polar bear, and eagle. She also wore twisty metal earrings and beaten copper wristbands with smaller versions of the SharpWings clipped to each band, as well as a traveling bag. When she appeared to deliver her message, she was translucent.

Personality

Clink described Precipice as a genius. Despite Darkling and Lemur's crime, she felt sympathy for the other dragons that were going to be imprisoned and left them a way out.

The Forgotten Isles Prophecy

The Hybrid Prince

Precipice appeared in the prologue alongside Bloodshed, who had taken her to Harmony to show her the village. Precipice agreed that the village was illegal and that they should inform the other Queens' Claws.

Umber saw Precipice in the scene of Queen Falcon's death in the Memory Room. Precipice was with Falcon just before her assassination. She was later mentioned by Sorrel and Darkling when they told Queen Euphoria and Queen Magnolia that she and Bloodshed had seen Harmony. Precipice was seen again in the scene with Queen Retribution and Queen Summit, giving notes on Precipice's prison design.

Precipice was fiercely loyal to her queen, not only having warned her about Summit's strange behavior, but also enchanted the memory room so that anyone who was spectating the memory would think thoughts glorifying Falcon and feel angry at the assassins.

Precipice's Message

Below is the full message from Precipice's hologram in the cave where she left the enchanted eggs.

"Hello. You found my secret, I knew you would one day. I'm leaving this here without telling my queen about it, if she finds out, I may not live much longer, but I couldn't leave you trapped in this prison for all time, with no way to escape. When you do escape, please take my little dragons with you. I'm so sorry to leave them here, trapped by my spell. I hope they'll be free one day. These eggs were taken by my queen from a settlement called Harmony. Sorry, I'm not sure why I said it that way- I know you remember Harmony. As I'm doing this spell, Summit hasn't found those dragons yet, so they may have made it to safety. I hope that's some good news for you. Maybe when you leave this place, you can find them and join them. I wouldn't recommend coming back to the Sky Kingdom. Once Summit and her daughters get their claws on the land they want, I don't' think they'll give it back easily. These eggs were left behind when the dragons who lived in Harmony all fled, knowing armies were coming to kill them. I don't know who they belonged to, whether they had siblings, or even which tribes they are, although I believe they are hybrids. Queen Summit ordered me to destroy them, but I couldn't. Instead, I've suspended them in time., They will stay this way, on the cusp of hatching, for as long as it takes until the right dragons find them. Are you the right dragons? Are you kind? How long has it been, and what are you like now? Tonight, as I cast these prison spells, I find it hard to imagine what it will do to you all. I hope it's not as bad as the queens want it to be.
