Clink is a SharpWing that was introduced in The Hybrid Prince. It is one of the guards on the Dungeon Isle enchanted by Precipice. "Clink" is a nickname given by Quokka. It is unknown what its true name is.

Description

Clink is tiny, and made from copper-and-silver. It has precise miniature copper scales that overlap its back and sides, with the thinnest beaten silver for the membrane of its wings. Clink's face is slender and elegant like a SkyWing's.

Personality

Clink is haughty and reminded Umber of the SkyWings. It is very strict, and often replied to things in a very short or gruff manner. It seems to be very distasteful of the prisoners on the island and doesn't want to talk to them.

Clink was introduced as a name Quokka had given to one of the SharpWings, which she and Umber decided to follow in order to find out where the SharpWings lived. It led the two dragons through the Court of Refuge to the entrance hall, where it paused and looked around before flying into a crack in the wall.

Once Quokka and Umber had made their way into the SharpWing caverns, Clink was the first to spot them, flying over and jabbing Umber's palm with its claw toxin, which Umber noted to hurt far more than it should have. Clink insisted that no prisoners were allowed in the cave and that the SharpWings were not going to answer any of Umber's questions, to which Umber began prying for information without asking questions. It revealed the name of the small metal dragons to be the SharpWings, and that they had originally been enchanted by Precipice, a SkyWing animus. However, when Umber noted that the SharpWings were just as much prisoners as the dragons on the island, Clink snapped at him that they had a purpose.

When Umber offered to try and fix the broken SharpWing's wing, Clink gave him the dragon's name, Nineteen, and produced a flat rock with a hole for Umber to funnel his flame through, though it gruffly said that it would not work. After fixing Nineteen's wing and discovering the plaque with prisoner categories, Umber desperately asked if there was a way to change the category, to which Clink and the other SharpWings chased them out of the cavern.

Later in the Memory Room, Umber wondered why Clink could talk and Nineteen could not.
