Snakeroot is an adult male LeafWing-NightWing hybrid who was introduced in The Hybrid Prince. He was the king of the Court of Refuge alongside his partner Ex-Queen Beryl before they were overthrown and sent to the dungeons. He is the father of Mulberry.
Description
Snakeroot has dark[1] forest green scales, green talons,[2] and dark[3] green[4] leaf-shaped wings, which are his only resemblance to Mulberry.[5] His eyes are dark green,[6] and he has a long green nose[7] and a long green tail.[6] He has a jagged round scar slashed across one of his wings that looks like a dragonflame cactus. He is menacing. [8] Umber described him as filling the air with invisible spikes and traps the weight of a thousand eyes.[5] He wore a gold crown woven with thorny vines.[1]
Personality
Snakeroot is very hostile and suspicious towards others, such as Umber and Sora. He is alarming, possibly due to his foresight, and often speaks in short, cryptic words. Similar to Beryl, Snakeroot is power-hungry and ruthless. He and his wife staged a coup against the Triumvirate and forced several dragonets to fly towards the barrier as part of their experiments.[9][10]

The Forgotten Isles Prophecy
Snakeroot was suspicious of Umber and Sora when they came into the throne room, calling them dangerous when Umber asked a question about the past kings. [5]
Beryl says that Snakeroot lost his mother when he was too young to remember, and then was brought to The Court of Refuge by his father afterwards. [5]
