Wings of Fire (TV show) is the television adaptation of the Wings of Fire series. It was first announced in 2019,[event 1] though little is revealed about it. It is under the works of Warner Bros. Animation and will be launched on Netflix[1] as a 3D animation.[2] The first season will contain ten episodes, each being forty minutes long. Ava DuVernay spearheads the series, while Dan Milano and Christa Starr run the show;[3] DuVernay, Tui T. Sutherland, Sam Register, Sarah Bremmner, and Justin Ridge work on executive producing duties.[4] According to IMDB, as of April 2nd, 2022, the show has left Pre-Production and has begun Filming.[5] The release date is currently unknown, though it was originally given a 2022 release.[citation needed]

Director's Note

Within this epic book series from the mind of Tui Sutherland is an elegant saga filled with wisdom and wonder, exploring ideas of belonging and bias, camaraderie and community. On behalf of my colleagues Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes of ARRAY Filmworks, we're thrilled to partner with Netflix and Warner Bros. Animation for this dynamic adaptation where five young dragonets fulfill their destiny and show viewers how to fulfill their own.

Trivia

  • Characters may have inner monologues.[event 2]
  • Tui noted that she wanted to have finished the Wings of Fire story before a TV series is released, because she does not want the ending taken away from her.[event 3]
