Lynx is a female IceWing dragonet who was introduced in Winter Turning. She is currently flying across the sea from Pyrrhia on the journey to Pantala as one of the eleven selected representatives. She was formerly a warrior in the First Circle and is currently in Queen Snowfall's council.
Appearance
Lynx has silver scales,[1] with an unusual pattern of dark blue scales scattered across her white snout and wings.[2]
Personality
Winter thought of Lynx as very hardworking and smart, despite the fact that she was only the daughter of a minor noble.[3] She smiled and congratulated Winter when he reached the top of the Circle rankings.[4] She has a confident and rebellious side to her, as shown when she tries to argue and make witty comebacks to Snowfall. She is adventurous, as she welcomed every new challenge with open wings and explored mysterious dangers with Snowfall. Unlike Snowfall, Lynx wondered what the Pantalan dragons were trying to accomplish first instead of forcing them out of the Ice Kingdom. Lynx also tends to completely disregard IceWing traditions at times, as shown when she cheers Snowfall on as she destroys the Great Ice Cliff and the gift of order.

While scanning the dragons in the First Circle, Winter saw that Lynx was in second place behind Snowfall. He thought that this was much better news than the fact that Snowfall had moved to the top spot since Lynx was both nice and the daughter of a minor noble. Lynx had an unusual pattern of dark blue scales scattered along her white snout and wings. Winter thought they were pretty at first, but later they dreadfully reminded him of Moonwatcher's silver teardrop scales. On the morning after Winter was summoned for the Diamond Trial, Winter found Lynx and trained with her outside of the IceWing palace. When they finished fighting and were cleaning themselves, Queen Glacier arrived with Icicle. When Winter moved up, Lynx, unlike Snowfall, was kind to Winter and warmly congratulated him on his success. |

| During the Battle of Jade Mountain between the IceWings and the NightWings, Fearless was seen attacking a young silver female IceWing with blue scales freckling her snout. Winter saved the IceWing by spraying frostbreath on Fearless's wing, making her crash-land and crawl into a nearby cave. Although the female IceWing's name isn't stated, this could have potentially been Lynx. |

Lynx was first seen talking to Snowfall about her problems in the second excerpt. Snowfall's exaggeration and overreactions towards every incoming problem appeared to irritate Lynx, but she did not stop helping the young IceWing queen. Lynx followed Snowfall throughout the book, insisting on coming along and facing the new challenges, and questioned her multiple times when she tries to react towards seemingly dangerous events. Lynx provided advice and suggested to follow the Pantalan dragons to Sanctuary, in which she constantly stayed by Snowfall's side from then on. Snowfall eventually considered Lynx helpful company by the end of the book, agreeing to helping Lynx join the Council and become one of the eleven representatives. |
Relationships
Throughout The Dangerous Gift, Lynx helped Snowfall with her anger issues. This is demonstrated in the beginning of the book where Lynx arrives in Snowfall's throne room to check up on the former. Due to Snowfall's paranoia, the IceWing Queen questions Lynx's motives as the former feels threatened by the latter's presence. When asked if she (Lynx) was spying on her, Lynx confirms this but attempts to reassure her that it's not for the reasons her majesty feared. Lynx explains that she was concerned for her Queen's mental health due to the ordeals their tribe (particularly Snowfall) had been forced to face by Darkstalker. She is very supportive to Snowfall, especially during stressful times, and treats her more as her friend than her queen. Snowfall later grudgingly admits that Lynx was a good friend that she will miss her, when Lynx goes to Pantala.
Lynx refers to Winter as her friend.[5] Before Winter faced the Diamond Trial, he trained with Lynx in familiar combat patterns.[6] He helped her against Fearless by spraying frostbreath on Fearless' wing.[1] When Lynx arrived at Sanctuary, she was very enthusiastic to see Winter, cheerfully greeting him and sparking up a conversation.
