Bombing of the Summer Palace

The bombimg of the Summer Palace was an event involving the destruction of the Summer Palace, the SeaWings' hidden above water palace, by the SkyWings and MudWings. The attack was an act of the War of SandWing Succession in 5,011 AS by Burn's side, and led to the SeaWings backing out of the war and retreating to the Deep Palace. The attack resulted in many SeaWing casualties as well as the death of a Mudwing agent in the Talons of Peace known as Crocodile.

Description

Crocodile, a MudWing working for the SkyWings, infiltrated the Talons of Peace and saved Webs when the talons attempted to kill him, gaining his trust. She tricked him into returning to Queen Coral which allowed the SkyWings to track him, discovering the location of the Summer Palace. She later returned and informed the nearby Mudwing and Skywing army of the location of the Palace and the army swiftly moved to attack. SkyWings began firebombing the canopy and palace with burning logs, which were supplied by the MudWings, as well as dragonflame cacti, which destoryed the canopy and caused mass casualties. Commander Shark and SeaWings soldiers, along with Riptide and various prison guards, who left their posts, fought a delaying action against the SkyWings while civilian SeaWings attempted to escape through the underwater tunnel; however, due to the narrowness of the tunnel it delayed evacuation efforts and caused many to die to the firebombing. During the battle after a confrontation with Crocodile she was killed by Glory. The delaying action of the part of Commander Shark lasted long enough for the Seawing council to evacuate as well as the Royal family however following the attack the entire palace was destroyed. In the battle the Dragonets of Destiny as well as their ally Webs but Blister, who was trying to get out through some other way than the cramped tunnel managed to stab Webs with her poison tail.

Following the attack, Coral and the SeaWings retreated underwater, hiding in the Deep Palace for the remainder of the war, despite their alliance to Blister. With the withdrawal of the Seawings from the war it allowed Burn to focus her forces on a plan for an invasion of the Icewings.

Timeline

• Crocodile infiltrates the Talons of Peace and tricks Webs into returning to the Kingdom of the Sea to find the location of the Summer Palace.
• The SkyWings firebomb the canopy of the Summer palace with burning logs and dragonflame cacti, causing the palace to catch fire quickly and debris from the canopy to collapse. MudWings supply the SkyWings with logs outside the canopy.
• Civilian SeaWings attempt to escape through the exit tunnel, however due to its small size, evacuating was difficult.
• SeaWing soldiers led by Commander Shark fight a delaying action against the SkyWings and helped the evacuation.
• Various prison guards go to aid in the delaying action as well as Riptide.
• In a confrontation with the dragonets of destiny, Crocodile is killed by Glory who spits venom into her eyes.
• The remaining SeaWings retreat into hiding underwater at the Deep Palace. SeaWings with burn injuries from the bombing are treated by being submerged underwater.
• Webs is stabbed by Blister during her attempt to escape through the burned canopy.
