Template:Charbox Lynx is a female IceWing dragonet. She appears in part three of Winter Turning, while Winter is in the Ice Kingdom. She was originally in second place in the First Circle, but when Winter was put into first place, she was moved down to third place. Unlike Snowfall, she didn't act bitter and jealous. Instead, she congratulated Winter on reaching first place.
Appearance
She has been described as being silver, with an unusual pattern of dark blue scales on her snout and wings that Winter considers pretty.
Personality
Winter observes that Lynx is very hardworking, diligent, and intelligent, despite only being the daughter of a minor noble. Lynx appears to be friendlier than most IceWings (lacking the coldness most of them carry), as she was smiling and congratulating Winter when he reached the top of the IceWing dragonet rankings, rather than being jealous like Snowfall was about being moved down. She is also shown to be brave, as she participated in the battle at the end of Darkness of Dragons, and is considered a good fighter by Winter, who practiced with her when he was in the Ice Kingdom.
Biography
While scanning the dragons in the First Circle, Winter saw that Lynx was in second place behind Snowfall. He thought that this was much better news than the fact that Snowfall had moved to the top spot since Lynx was both nice and the daughter of minor nobles.
Lynx had an unusual pattern of dark blue scales scattered along her white snout and wings. Winter thought them pretty as a dragonet, but they dreadfully reminded him of Moonwatcher's silver teardrop scales.
On the morning after Winter was summoned for the Diamond Trial, Winter found Lynx and battle-trained with her outside of the IceWing palace to get ready for the impending task ahead. When they finished up and were cleaning themselves up, Queen Glacier arrived with Icicle.
During the battle at Jade Mountain between the IceWings and the NightWings, Fearless was seen attacking a young female IceWing with blue scales freckling her snout, but Winter saved the IceWing by spraying frostbreath on Fearless's wing, making her crash-land, and crawl into a cave. Although the female IceWing's name isn't stated, this was most likely Lynx.
"Lynx's Backstory"
Tui has revealed a fair bit about Lynx's backstory via a series of interviews. When Lynx was much younger, during the war, she was fighting the SkyWings in a battle in the SkyWing territory. Lynx was wounded badly and had to alight in a forest far on the edge of the SkyWing territory, near the sea. Here, she met a dragonet roughly the same age as her: Stormrise, the SeaWing/SkyWing hybrid. Storm's parents had been killed years ago by Queen Scarlet and now she was welcome in neither tribe, nor did she want to live in either of their territories. Instead, she had made a home for herself in the forest. She and the three-year old Lynx soon became firm friend, as Tui says, and Storm helped nurse Lynx back to health. Lynx realised through this experience how much nicer Stormrise was than the IceWings in the Ice Kingdom, and in this she became nicer, and resolved to be more like Storm, and less like a pompous IceWing, if she could help it. Eventually, after making a promise to be like sisters, and visit as often as she could without seeming suspicious, Lynx had to leave back for the IceWing Kingdom. Over the years, Lynx and Stormrise found places to meet, and this became easier when the war was over. Tui mentions that they had many heart-to-heart talks with one another, and plan to get Lynx out of the IceWing kingdom, and live in the forest forever, as sisters together, and maybe even apply for Jade Mountain Academy, although this suggestion was met with little enthusiasm from Storm, as it would mean having to communicate with either one of her Queens. Lynx confessed to Storm that she hates all the order in the IceWing Kingdom, and would miss no one if she went to live in the forest with Stormrise, not even her parents. Tui mentions that she wishes to write a book about Lynx in the future, and one about Stormrise as well. She also wishes to bring the two "sisters" into the coming books a little more.

Trivia
- A lynx is a genus of the cat family, including four different species. Lynxes usually live in mountains and tundras.
- Lynx is most likely first place in the dragonet rankings, because Hailstorm is now an adult, Winter is now with the Talons of Peace, and Snowfall is the IceWing queen.
- Tui stated in a Scholastic video that she would definitely like to have Lynx return.
- She may have gotten her name because of the unusual spots on her, which lynxes also have.
- Lynx is the first known IceWing with unusual markings, as they are usually pure ice colors.
- During the battle, Winter saved an IceWing with 'blue freckles' by shooting freezing-death-breath at Fearless, making her crash into a mountain. This was most likely Lynx.
- Lynx is the fourth known dragon in the series with freckle-like markings (including Thorn, Qibli, Lady Scarab and Katydid).
