This article contains information about the upcoming book, The Hybrid Prince. Read this page with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

WildWings are a dragon tribe introduced in The Hybrid Prince who reside on the Dungeon Isle. They consist of dragons who are descendants of the first prisoners - including dragons from the LeafWings, BeetleWings, SeaWings, and RainWings - who were unable to escape to Pantala, although other tribes have entered the mix as more dragons got trapped on the Isle. They are currently ruled by the Triumvirate, consisting of three elected dragons who rule the Court of Refuge.

Description

Due to being the descendants of the first dragons on the Isle, most WildWings do not look like any particular tribe.[1] Some WildWings may have a mix of features that look like they may be from certain tribes[2] while others might not look like any at all.[3] Many WildWings have blobby, rose thorn-shaped spikes down their spine,[2][4] on their tail,[5] or over their whole body. They can also have webs between their talons.[6][3][7]

Diet

Most are carnivorous, with only some being herbivores and omnivores. Some RainWing-type WildWings, such as Quokka and Platypus, are - despite being part-RainWing - both eat fruit and meat.

Abilities

WildWing abilities vary from dragon to dragon, and most abilities are consistent with other tribe abilities. Not all WildWings are guaranteed to inherit the same abilities as their relatives.[8] Some mentioned abilities are RainWing venom, HiveWing venom,[8] firebreath,[9] and camouflage scales.[10]

Society

They all live in small rooms in the Dungeon Isle, and their society is starting to get more open and kinder, with the Triumvirate leading once again.

Names

All WildWings shown in the novels are named after real-world Australian biodiversity, such as Platypus and Quokka.
