Sapphire
- "Everything you have will be mine when I'm queen, you know. Even stupid beach trash like this."
- — Sapphire to Albatross, recounted in Darkstalker
Sapphire was an adult female SeaWing princess who was mentioned in Darkstalker. After losing her claws to a clamshell accidentally enchanted by her brother Albatross,[1] she was rumored to have gone insane. Sapphire was then stationed on a remote island with the care of two very well-paid servants.
Personality
Before the incident, Princess Sapphire was bossy and rude towards Albatross. She believed that she would be queen one day, given her words towards her brother. Sapphire became insane after losing her claws to Albatross's spell and was implied to have a strong hatred for him due to the incident. She presumably got along with Lagoon well, as the latter was the only dragon to ever visit her.
Biography
Pre-Series
When the young SeaWing princesses, Sapphire and Lagoon, were dragonets, they teased Albatross while he was playing with a clamshell. Sapphire attempted to take the clamshell away, taunting Albatross and claiming that one day, everything would be hers, even "stupid beach trash" such as the clamshell. Albatross was not aware of his animus powers at the time, and therefore never expected his verbal order to be followed, but he commanded the shell to "Bite her! Bite all her claws off!"
Since that day, Sapphire had been unable to hunt, battle, or swim efficiently. She avoided the SeaWing palaces and was stationed on a remote island with the company of particularly well-paid servants. It was mentioned that Sapphire developed both insanity and a probable hatred for Albatross after the incident on the beach. Queen Lagoon was the only known dragon to have ever visited her.
Legends
Albatross recites this tragic story of himself and Sapphire to Fathom of how he discovered his animus magic. Later, after the Royal SeaWing Massacre, she is mentioned to be the only other member of the royal family besides Pearl who could rule the kingdom.

Quotes
- "Sapphire, of course, could never be queen after that — a dragon with no claws cannot hunt or fight, and as for swimming … well, who looks like a feeble old duck now. She went a little mad, I'm afraid. Now she is kept on an island far away from everyone else, tended by two very well-paid servants. Lagoon visits her occasionally, but I never have. I assume Sapphire would prefer never to see me again."
