The Talons of Power ceremony is an event where all two-year-old SeaWing dragonets are tested to see whether or not they have animus magic.
Description
The ceremony was devised due to the catastrophic discovery of Albatross's power.[1] SeaWing dragonets are instructed to perform a simple task, such as moving a coconut with animus magic. Any SeaWing who successfully performs the task is then declared an animus dragon.
Timeline
- When Albatross was a dragonet, he accidentally enchanted a clam to bite all of Sapphire's claws off.[2] This event inspired the creation of the Talons of Power ceremony.
- Fathom participated in the ceremony. He successfully ordered the coconut to hit Albatross and was declared an animus dragon.[3]
- Turtle made himself sick at two and did not participate in the event.[4] No animus was announced that year.
- When Turtle turned three, Queen Coral was guarding Anemone's egg and King Gill was taken by SkyWing forces. The ceremony was canceled for that year,[4] and the dragonets meant to take the test that year presumably took it the next year.
- Turtle participated at four years old. He knew he was an animus and did not want to receive attention, so he enchanted Anemone to be an animus.[5] She successfully ordered the coconut to float, and the ceremony ended.
