Her name was going to be used for Eclipse, as stated by Darkstalker; however, it turned out differently, as Clearsight stated that Shadowhunter was going to be Eclipse's older sister, an argument that Clearsight won with her precognition.
It is possible that this could be a small reference to the book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, which feature warriors called Shadowhunters.
