BeetleWings

BeetleWings were the first settlers of Pantala, along with the LeafWings. They were eventually bred out of existence after the arrival of Clearsight, which cause it to splitting into the HiveWings and SilkWings around 4500 AS. They were first mentioned in The Lost Continent.

Description

BeetleWings were described to have four wings, like that of butterflies, beetles, or dragonflies. It is possible they had antennae since Cricket mentioned that HiveWings did at one point. BeetleWings likely had bright colors, similar to SilkWings. Only one pure BeetleWing has been mentioned in the series so far, Sunstreak.

Abilities

Like their HiveWing descendants, some BeetleWings had insect-like powers. They were rumored to have had antennae and an ability to shoot venom from their fangs like RainWings. When Tsunami arrived in the Poison Jungle, she heard about these powers and connected them to the RainWing tribe back on Pyrrhia. In Sequoia's retelling of the Legend of the Hive, it was mentioned that they used their flamesilks to burn insects out of the sky.

Names

Though there were only five named BeetleWing individuals (four of them being hybrids), all of them were named after species of butterflies, but they may have been named after other insects too.

• BeetleWings are currently the first and only known tribe that is confirmed to be extinct.
• They, along with LeafWings, were the first dragons to inhabit Pantala.
