BeetleWings, along with the LeafWings, were the first settlers of Pantala. They were eventually bred into extinction after the arrival of Clearsight, splitting them into the HiveWings and SilkWings around 4,500 AS. They were first introduced unnamed in The Lost Continent and were formally named in The Poison Jungle.
Description
BeetleWings had four wings and were described to be brightly colored. Clearsight thought they were more beautiful than even RainWings. Only two pure BeetleWings have appeared in the series so far: Sunstreak and a small unnamed lavender BeetleWing dragonet Clearsight saw in a vision. BeetleWings hatched without wings but developed them later on, similar to SilkWings.[1]
Abilities
BeetleWings were rumored to have antennae and an ability to shoot venom from their fangs.[2] In Sequoia's retelling of the Legend of the Hive, it was mentioned that they used flamesilk to burn bees out of the sky.[3]
Names
There are only five named BeetleWing individuals, with four of them being the BeetleWing-NightWing hybrids. BeetleWings were named after butterfly or beetle species.

Trivia
- Along with LeafWings, BeetleWings were the first dragons to inhabit Pantala, as both tribes originated from Pyrrhia.[2] According to the Legend of the Hive, the two tribes were refugees who could never return to Pyrrhia, settling in Pantala to escape trouble.[4]
- When Clearsight first came to Pantala, the BeetleWings were all the same, just living in different places, similar to how SapWings and PoisonWings lived separately but are all still LeafWings.[event 1]
