Webs is an adult male blue-greenTDPp SeaWing. As of Moon Rising, Webs has a scar on his sideMR from when he was injured near the tail by Blister near the end of The Lost Heir. He was one of the guardians of the dragonets, along with Dune and Kestrel. He was the one who brought Tsunami's egg and Glory's egg as a replacement for the SkyWing Dragonet, whose egg had been smashed by Burn. Currently, he is a history teacher at Jade Mountain Academy. He is also the father of Riptide.
Webs is an adult male SeaWing who was introduced in The Dragonet Prophecy. Formerly a member of the Talons of Peace, he was one of the guardians of the dragonets alongside Dune and Kestrel, tasked with teaching them about the history and geography of Pyrrhia and is the sole surviving guardian. He currently resides at Jade Mountain Academy as the school's history teacher.

Personality
Description
Webs is cowardly, but he can also be very kind. He sometimes brought the dragonets food that they liked and taught them a bar song, much to Dune and Kestrel's annoyance. He was the only guardian that brought Starflight scrolls for him to read. He was downcast when Morrowseer ordered the guardians to kill Glory, possibly because he was the one who brought her egg there. Webs did not participate in the abuse of the dragonets, nor did he do anything to prevent it. Because of this, he seems to be rather lazy and uncaring at times. As shown in Moon Rising, he is easily frustrated by off-topic questions, such as when Winter asked about NightWings. He seems rather determined to teach history to the Jade Mountain students, as he refuses to let Pike chase after Anemone in Darkness of Dragons. Webs seems to know a lot about history, as Sunny said that he was great at teaching.
Webs has blue-green scalesTDPp and wings,THK as well as a long tailTDP and body.TLHp He is heavyTLH and large,TDP bigger than ClayTLH and Tsunami,THK and has a scar on his sideMR near his tail, caused by an injury from Blister's venomous tail barb.THK He is shivering and elderly.TLH

Biography
Personality
Pre-Series
Webs is pleasant but stern,DoD with a maddeningly slow voice.DoD He is infamous in the SeaWing tribe for deserting during a battle and later stealing Tsunami's egg for the Dragonet Prophecy,TLH causing others to constantly speak of his treachery.TLH While caring for the dragonets, he taught them everything he could and tried to bring back prey they liked and was much kinder than the other guardians. However, he never stopped Dune and KestrelTLH from abusing the dragonets. Riptide later mentioned that Webs has always been considered weak and cowardly.TLH However, he did truly care for the Dragonet Prophecy, as he was willing to leave behind his wife and son in order to help fulfill it.TLH He hates killing other dragons.TLH Similar to Nautilus, he believed peace was the most important thing, even at a cost.TLHp He always believed it when he told the dragonets that it was for peace. He does not like being alone without any support and could not understand why the dragonets ran off by themselves.TLHp He felt incredibly guilty about what happened to the Summer Palace and blamed himself for the attack.THK He believes that education is important.DoD
After residing in the Kingdom of the Sea most of his life, Webs deserted the SeaWings during the middle of a battle, receiving his reputation for being a coward and a traitor. He left behind his wife, who was later killed in a battle as punishment for helping him steal Tsunami's egg, and his son, Riptide, who later joined and worked for the Talons of Peace to meet his father, though he never did. Webs then switched alliance to the Talons and was a member for several years. He stole Tsunami's egg from the Royal Hatchery in order to fulfill the prophecy, which required a 'SeaWing egg of deepest blue', as he was convinced it was Tsunami's egg. He achieved this by drugging the guards and taking Tsunami's egg while a battle was going on; therefore, everyone was distracted. Although him stealing her egg actually saved Tsunami from Orca's statue, Queen Coral hated Webs for this and wanted to kill him so she would never see him again.

Webs was also the one who stole Glory's egg from the rainforest. It was his idea to get a RainWing egg as a replacement for the destroyed SkyWing egg, saying there had to be five eggs no matter under what circumstances.

Webs was one of the three guardians who raised the Dragonets of Destiny, whose job was to teach them history. He raised the Dragonets of Destiny along with Kestrel and Dune for six years. Then Coral threw him in prison to be later executed. However, the dragonets freed Webs from his prison, along with Riptide, and decided to leave the kingdom. == Relationships ==
Clay
Webs seemed overjoyed that Clay was alive when they were reunited.TLH

Coral
Upon returning to the Kingdom of the Sea, Coral snarled at Webs and stated that he was cowardly.TLH She was enraged towards him, as she considers him the tribe's biggest traitor.TLH She was so angry towards him that she reassigned his wife from kitchen duty into military service, causing her inevitable death. She was quick to tell Webs about this after his return.TLH

The Hidden Kingdom
Glory
In The Hidden Kingdom, Glory thinks Webs is purposely slowing their journey into the rainforest. After the dragonets found the tunnels to the Kingdom of Sand, Sunny brought back some cactus juice which, according to Blaze, would cure any SandWing venom wound. After the cactus juice antidote, Webs slowly started healing from the SandWing's inflicted wound.
Webs is shown defending Glory against the other guardiansTDP and is hesitant towards killing Glory himself,TDP though he does not object the plan. Glory's voice was cold when speaking to Webs in the Kingdom of the Sea,TLH and she looked down her nose at him.TLH However, he seemed full of joy to see her alive.TLH

The Dark Secret
Riptide
Webs was depressed critically but has since made a full recovery with the exceptions of a big scar.
Webs is Riptide's father. Webs's scales paled nearly to gray when he realized that Riptide had been captured by Queen Coral.TLH He tried to defend his son by telling Coral that he had nothing to do with the Talons of Peace, though he did not know that Riptide was a member.

The Brightest Night
Starflight
Webs is seen briefly in the healers' hut in the Rainforest Kingdom. He is also mentioned in the epilogue, where Sunny suggests that he could be a history teacher at the Jade Mountain Academy, because he was just sitting around in the healers' hut, which Glory hated.
When Webs found that Starflight was alive, he seemed overjoyed.TLH

Moon Rising
Sunny
Webs first appears when he is helping the dragonets catch fish for the prey center of the Jade Mountain Academy. He also serves as the history teacher, talking on and on. Moonwatcher revealed that he was relieved to have been late for class when Sora rigged the cave with explosives, killing Carnelian and Bigtail, and injuring Tamarin.
Sunny spoke softly towards Webs, and touched his snout lightly when they were reunited.TLH She also clutched his talon and smiled at him. He seemed overjoyed to see her alive.TLH Sunny seemed to be the dragonet who cared the most about Webs seeing a RainWing healer.

Darkness of Dragons
Tsunami
Webs is then seen again in Darkness of Dragons when Winter and Qibli go to history class after watching Moon and Turtle leave with Darkstalker. Webs tries to teach the Gold Winglet, Silver Winglet, and the remains of the Jade Winglet history on The Scorching. However, many of the students insist on hearing about the history of Darkstalker instead, and he is forced to take a short lesson on him before returning to The Scorching.
Tsunami mentioned that while Webs should have protected them better from the cruelty of Dune and Kestrel, his teaching was not entirely boring, and that he had tried to bring back prey they liked while hunting. She stated that growing up would have been worse without him, although she complains about him often.TLH He seemed overjoyed to see her alive.TLH She thought that she should hate him because of the life he had forced upon her, but she found herself willing to save his life.TLH

"We have to do something. In eight years, the Talons of Peace will come looking for five dragonets. The prophecy says five, and we're going to make it come true ... whatever it takes."
— Webs to Dune and Kestrel, The Dragonet Prophecy

Webs is an adult male SeaWing who was introduced in The Dragonet Prophecy. Formerly a member of the Talons of Peace, he was one of the guardians of the dragonets alongside Dune and Kestrel, tasked with teaching them about the history and geography of Pyrrhia and is the sole surviving guardian. He currently resides at Jade Mountain Academy as the school's history teacher.

Description

Webs has blue-green scales[1] and wings,[2] as well as a long tail[3] and body.[4] He is heavy[5] and large,[6] bigger than Clay[5] and Tsunami,[7] and has a scar on his side[8] near his tail, caused by an injury from Blister's venomous tail barb.[9] He is shivering and elderly.[10]

Personality

Webs is pleasant but stern,[11] with a maddeningly slow voice.[12] He is infamous in the SeaWing tribe for deserting during a battle and later stealing Tsunami's egg for the Dragonet Prophecy,[13] causing others to constantly speak of his treachery.[14] While caring for the dragonets, he taught them everything he could and tried to bring back prey they liked and was much kinder than the other guardians. However, he never stopped Dune and Kestrel[15] from abusing the dragonets. Riptide later mentioned that Webs has always been considered weak and cowardly.[16] However, he did truly care for the Dragonet Prophecy, as he was willing to leave behind his wife and son in order to help fulfill it.[17] He hates killing other dragons.[18] Similar to Nautilus, he believed peace was the most important thing, even at a cost.[4] He always believed it when he told the dragonets that it was for peace. He does not like being alone without any support and could not understand why the dragonets ran off by themselves.[4] He felt incredibly guilty about what happened to the Summer Palace and blamed himself for the attack.[19] He believes that education is important.[11]

Biography

Pre-Series

After residing in the Kingdom of the Sea most of his life, Webs deserted the SeaWings during a battle, creating his reputation for being a coward and a traitor. He left behind his wife, who was later killed in a battle as punishment for presumably helping him steal Tsunami's egg, and his son, Riptide, who later joined and worked for the Talons of Peace to meet his father, though he never did. Webs then switched alliance to the Talons and was a member for several years. He stole Tsunami's egg from the Royal Hatchery to fulfill the prophecy, which required a "SeaWing egg of deepest blue," as he was convinced it was Tsunami's egg. He achieved this by drugging the guards and taking Tsunami's egg while a battle was going on; therefore, everyone was distracted. Although him stealing her egg unintentionally saved Tsunami from Orca's statue, Coral hated Webs for this and wanted to kill him so she would never see him again. Unable to, at that moment, kill Webs herself, she settles with killing his wife. This affected Webs significantly.

Webs was also the one who stole Glory's egg from the rainforest. His idea was to get a RainWing egg as a replacement for the destroyed SkyWing egg, saying there had to be five eggs no matter under what circumstances.

The Dragonet Prophecy

The Dragonet Prophecy

Webs was one of the three guardians who raised the dragonets of destiny, his job was to teach them history. He raised the dragonets of destiny along with Kestrel and Dune for six years. The day that Morrowseer came to inspect the dragonets, he saw Glory, the replacement for the dead SkyWing, for the first time. Morrowseer was visibly disgusted with her and decided she needed to be killed. Webs, who had joined the Talons of Peace to stop killing dragons, refused to do this. Dune, who had been maimed in the war before joining the Talons, refused to participate in the murder as well, which left Kestrel to kill the RainWing.

After the dragonets' smoke signal accidentally led Scarlet to the mountain, Dune was killed by Scarlet, and Kestrel was kidnapped with the dragonets and taken to the SkyWing palace. Before Webs could be taken prisoner with the remaining dragons, Kestrel shoved him into the river, and he left to inform the Talons of Peace of what happened.
The Lost Heir

After learning of the dragonets' capture, the Talons of Peace sought out and found Webs hiding in the river. Nautilus, the leader, then stated they had no further use for him and ordered Cirrus, an IceWing, to kill Webs. However, he got away with the help of Crocodile, a new Talon. Crocodile recommended he go back to the Kingdom of the Sea, as Queen Coral was supposedly merciful these days.

From then on in the book, Webs was mentioned many times by Queen Coral as a traitor and deserter since Coral hated Webs for stealing Tsunami's egg. It was later figured out in the book that Riptide was Webs' son, and that was why Queen Coral hated Riptide as well.

Webs went back, but Coral was still furious about what he had done six years earlier, and she told him that she forced his wife to fight in the first line of the war, where she was killed. Then Coral threw him in prison to be later executed. However, the dragonets freed Webs from his prison, along with Riptide, and decided to leave the kingdom. To his surprise, though, Crocodile had followed him there. She had secretly been a spy and informed Burn's alliance of the location of the Summer Palace. This led to a carefully planned attack by the SkyWings and MudWings and the destruction of the Summer Palace. Before he got away with the dragonets, he was grazed near the tail by Blister's barb, leaving him injured critically with SandWing venom in his wound.
The Hidden Kingdom
During their trek to the rainforest, Glory thought Webs was intentionally slowing their journey. When the group met Queen Magnificent, she allowed the dragonets to take Webs to the healer's pavilion to be treated for his venom. After the dragonets found the tunnels to the Kingdom of Sand, Sunny brought back a piece of a brightsting cactus which, according to Blaze, could cure any wound caused by SandWing venom with its juice. After applying the antidote, Webs slowly started healing from his injury.
The Dark Secret
Webs was shown to be down but had made a full recovery, though he gained a large scar.
The Brightest Night
Webs was briefly seen in the healer's hut. In the epilogue, he was mentioned by Sunny when she suggested that he could be the history teacher at their new school because since he recovered from his venom, he was just sitting around in the healers' hut, which Glory hated.

The Jade Mountain Prophecy

Moon Rising
Webs first appeared when he helped the dragonets catch fish for the prey center of Jade Mountain Academy. He also served as the school history teacher. Moonwatcher revealed that he was relieved to have been late for class when Sora rigged the cave with a dragonflame cactus bomb, killing Carnelian and Bigtail, and injuring Tamarin. He was with the other teachers and Fatespeaker, when they explained the situation about the bombing to the students.
Talons of Power
While heading to the Rainforest Kingdom, Anemone boasted that she could learn more from Darkstalker than from Webs.
Darkness of Dragons
Webs is seen when Winter and Qibli go to history class after watching Moon and Turtle leave with Darkstalker. Webs tries to teach the Gold Winglet, Silver Winglet, and the remains of the Jade Winglet history on the Scorching, however many of the students insist on learning the history of Darkstalker, and he gave a short lesson on him.

Legends

Dragonslayer
Webs was seen with Kestrel when she interrupted the dragonets of destiny in the Study Cave.

Field Guides

A Guide to the Dragon World

Webs was mentioned in Coral's scroll about the War of SandWing Succession.

In the RainWing chapter, Webs was mentioned by Kinkajou in her creative writing project about Silver.

Relationships

Webs seemed overjoyed that Clay was alive when they were reunited.[20]

Upon returning to the Kingdom of the Sea, Coral snarled at Webs and stated that he was cowardly.[20] She was enraged towards him, as she considers him the tribe's biggest traitor.[21] She was so angry towards him that she reassigned his wife from kitchen duty into military service, causing her inevitable death. She was quick to tell Webs about this after his return.[17]

Webs is shown defending Glory against the other guardians[22] and is hesitant towards killing Glory himself,[23] though he does not object the plan. Glory's voice was cold when speaking to Webs in the Kingdom of the Sea,[20] and she looked down her nose at him.[5] However, he seemed full of joy to see her alive.[20]

Webs is Riptide's father. Webs's scales paled nearly to gray when he realized that Riptide had been captured by Queen Coral.[24] He tried to defend his son by telling Coral that he had nothing to do with the Talons of Peace, though he did not know that Riptide was a member.

When Webs found that Starflight was alive, he seemed overjoyed.[20]

Sunny spoke softly towards Webs, and touched his snout lightly when they were reunited.[5] She also clutched his talon and smiled at him. He seemed overjoyed to see her alive.[20] Sunny seemed to be the dragonet who cared the most about Webs seeing a RainWing healer.

Tsunami mentioned that while Webs should have protected them better from the cruelty of Dune and Kestrel, his teaching was not entirely boring, and that he had tried to bring back prey they liked while hunting. She stated that growing up would have been worse without him, although she complains about him often.[15] He seemed overjoyed to see her alive.[20] She thought that she should hate him because of the life he had forced upon her, but she found herself willing to save his life.[21]

Quotes

"I joined the Talons of Peace to stop killing dragons. I won't argue with Morrowseer, but I'm not doing it myself."
― to Dune and Kestrel, about killing Glory (The Dragonet Prophecy, page 53)

"But we're the dragons for peace. If we kill each other, aren't we as bad as Burn and Blister and Blaze?"
― to Cirrus (The Lost Heir, prologue)

"I remembered her egg. It was so blue — it had to be the right one. I'm so sorry, Your Majesty. But the prophecy is so important. I would never have betrayed you for anything else, but for peace ... How could I not do as the Talons asked?"
― to Queen Coral about stealing Tsunami (The Lost Heir, page 218)

"We had three guardians. The other two, Dune and Kestrel, hated everything. But Webs — he wasn't just trying to keep us alive. He taught us everything he could, except Aquatic, I guess. He taught us history and geography and all about the prophecy, and he wasn't even that boring about it. When it was his turn to hunt, he tried to bring back prey he knew we liked. It would have been worse without him. But he should have protected us better. If he was the only one who cared, he should have stopped Dune and Kestrel from hurting us and telling us we were worthless. He should have fought for us, but he never did, except right at the end when Scarlet and the SkyWings attacked."
― Tsunami to Riptide about Webs (The Lost Heir, page 219-130)

"I drugged the guards. I — I knew someone who helped me slip a sleeping potion into their evening meal. They were asleep when I crawled in and out again with the egg. It wasn't their fault."
― to Coral, about stealing Tsunami's egg (The Lost Heir, page 219)

"Now I know the dragonets are safe. So you can do whatever you like to me."
― to Coral (The Lost Heir, page 219)

"Some of you might know who I am. For those of you who don't, my name is Webs, and I used to be part of the Talons of Peace. You may have heard of my son, Riptide, who is the new leader of whatever the Talons of Peace are becoming. I was one of the guardians who raised the dragonets of destiny. I taught them the history of Pyrrhia, and now they've asked me to teach it to you. So, we'll start at the beginning, with the Scorching."
― to his class (Moon Rising, page 141)

"Sit down, young dragon. It is time for our lesson. You are a student. What you have to do is fill your mind with knowledge and wisdom."
― to Qibli (Darkness of Dragons, page 21)

Trivia

 • Webs considered the ten worst days of his life to be the ones after the battle where he had abandoned Coral and before joining the Talons.[4]
