Shark is also the commander of the armies of The Kingdom of the Sea and in charge of the military in the Council.
Shark is an adult male SeaWing prince who was introduced in The Lost Heir. Shark stopped Riptide and the Dragonets as they approached the SeaWing Summer Palace. He confirmed that Tsunami was Queen Coral's daughter from the bio-luminescent starburst patterns on the underside of her wings that are shared exclusively in the Royal Family. He allowed them through, however, not before trying to have the rest of the Dragonets of Destiny killed for security purposes. Tsunami yelled at him to let them through and states that she is the lost SeaWing princess.

When they entered the Summer Palace, Queen Coral put all the Dragonets except Tsunami in Blister's cave and shows Tsunami around while Shark makes a gesture with his index talon saying, "Not yet. We'll finish it later". With the threat of having a MudWing in their palace, he ordered Clay to be chained to the wall. This caused Clay, along with the others, to almost drown. Glory and Sunny didn't want to leave Clay and they were about to drown. Starflight also stayed with them, but perhaps just to make sure that Sunny was okay.

|content = Shark was at the head of the advance guard to confront Riptide and the dragonets of destiny as they approached the Summer Palace. After Riptide claimed that he had found Tsunami, the SeaWing tribe's alleged missing princess, Shark was skeptical. After Tsunami presented her spiral wing markings, undoubtedly marking her as SeaWing royalty, Shark reluctantly accepted that she was a princess and ordered his troops to bring Tsunami to the palace and to kill Clay, Glory, Starflight, and Sunny. Tsunami protested, and Shark eventually signaled for his guard to stand aside, leaving Tsunami's companions unharmed.

Tsunami suspected Shark of trying to attack her in the underwater tunnels that lead to the palace. She also suspected he was the one who smashed Queen Coral's eggs. However, Shark wasn't the one responsible for either attack, though he did grant permission for Tortoise to leave her post at the Royal Hatchery to eat an octopus, unknowingly letting one of the eggs inside the hatchery to be demolished. He also states that he thinks that a son should inherit the throne.
Shark led the dragonets, Riptide, and Tsunami to the Summer Palace. Shark stood silently on one of the spirals of a pillar while Tsunami introduced herself to a portion of the SeaWing tribe. He then joined Tsunami and her companions, along with Anemone, Coral, and nine other SeaWings on the royal pavilion. He stood aside as seven of them ushered the dragonets into a prison cave on Coral's orders. Anemone, Coral, Moray, Piranha, Riptide, Shark, and Tsunami then swam to the border of the Summer Palace in order to investigate the dead body of an unknown SkyWing (later revealed to be Kestrel). After flying back to the palace, Coral and a few Council members (one of whom was likely Shark) conducted a war meeting.

Because Shark ordered Clay to be chained to the floor, he would have been responsible for the deaths of the dragonets if they had drowned in the storm. For this and disobeying her orders (as well as Tsunami's dramatic reveal of what he had done), Queen Coral has him imprisoned in her underwater dungeon with Tsunami's approval, along with another dragon named Lagoon. He was later released either before or during an attack on the Summer Palace by Burn's forces, mostly SkyWings, and led the defense. Afterwards, he fled to the Deep Palace with the rest of the surviving SeaWings.
The next morning, Shark was observed sitting in a pool labeled 'DEFENSE' during a Council meeting. After a time of eating in silence, Shark reported to Coral that he was concerned about the palace defenses, accusing the dragonets to be a danger in their midst. When Tsunami confessed that Gill was killed in the SkyWing arena, she felt as if Shark had guessed the truth, and he knew that the actual cause of Gill's death was Tsunami herself, who was forced to combat him while she was imprisoned in the Sky Kingdom. Coral then disbanded the council meeting so she could grieve for her deceased husband.

Coral mentioned that she had sent Shark to the Deep Palace after that morning's council meeting in order to check on Tortoise and her eggs. After discovering that one of her eggs had been smashed, however, she punished Tortoise by yanking out all of her teeth one by one and then fatally stabbing her through the belly. Before Tortoise died, she pointed at Shark amongst the spectating crowd, Coral afterward having a heated discussion with him in Aquatic. Later, it was revealed by Anemone that, according to Tortoise, Shark had brought Tortoise an octopus to eat and granted her permission to leave her post.
Anemone says she thought about turning him bright pink and making all his teeth fall out. Turtle also remembers him in the flashback. He was on the beach, pacing and glowering at everyone.

Later, when Tsunami asked Flounder, Herring, Kelp, and Snail for a key to Clay's chains, they protested, mentioning that Shark had given them orders to keep him imprisoned within the cave. Tsunami eventually convinced them through discussion and a promise to keep each of their families safe if she ever became the SeaWing queen.

Next morning, in front of Blister, her SandWing guards, and several members of the SeaWing tribe, Tsunami loudly accused Shark of giving his soldiers orders to chain Clay; aware that she was being watched, Coral had no choice but to order Shark into the underwater dungeons. Shark did not protest, only snarling at the guards who approached him and giving Tsunami a look of hatred before swimming towards the prison himself.

Shark was not imprisoned for long, however, and was later seen leading the defense against enemy SandWing and SkyWing soldiers during the attack on the Summer Palace. He lived through the battle, later fleeing to the Deep Palace with the other surviving SeaWings.

Shark is generally assumed to have military-like aspects, he expects to be obeyed immediately, and is said to be quite vicious. Tsunami describes him as "creepy." He is shown to be a practical thinker. He suggested at one point that a son should inherit the throne if there are no daughters born to a queen. He tends to be very suspicious, as shown when he ordered the dragonets to be killed on the chance that they might be a threat and that MudWings, one of their enemies, were joining them. But in the end Shark is loyal to Coral, and has shown no actions hinting towards overthrowing his sister. Shark is very fish-like because he is said to never blink. He is very suspicous of the dragonets of destiny.

"I am concerned about our defenses. The intruders in our midst are a danger to us. We have no idea whether they might have led others to our palace, or what they might be planning."
— Shark to Coral about the dragonets of destiny, The Lost Heir

Shark is an adult male SeaWing prince who was introduced in The Lost Heir. He is the commander for the Kingdom of the Sea, where he currently resides and is a member of the SeaWing Council. He is the brother of Queen Coral and the father of Moray.

Description

Shark has dull gray-green scales, similar in appearance to a stone where moss has been scraped away. He has unsettling,[2] malicious,[3] tiny, bone-pale, unblinking eyes[4] that have been described as unfriendly, pale[5] reflecting pools that hide his thoughts.[6] He has a knobbly, protruding forehead and horns that twist strangely towards one another.[4] He has been noted to lack any battle scars[2] and is similar in appearance to Moray.[7] He has a pattern of starbursts shaped like webbed dragon prints branching across his wings, indicative of the SeaWing royal family.[8]

Personality

Unworried,[9] bad-tempered,[10] skeptical, and arrogant, Shark is a challenging, insolent dragon[2] who speaks flatly[6] and often in a snarl.[11][5] He is not often challenged, and Riptide mentioned that Shark would endanger those he considers a threat.[3] However, he was merciful enough towards Tortoise that Coral described him as soft.[12] When Shark was imprisoned, he did not protest; he just simply snarled at the guards attempting to control him and went towards the dungeons himself.[13]

The Dragonet Prophecy

The Lost Heir

Shark was at the head of the advance guard to confront Riptide and the dragonets of destiny as they approached the Summer Palace.

The Jade Mountain Prophecy

Talons of Power
Shark was mentioned when Anemone said she thought about turning him bright pink and making all his teeth fall out. Later, Turtle thought about Anemone's suggestion again. Turtle remembered him in his flashback. He was on the beach, pacing and glowering at everyone.

Relationships

Upon first meeting Tsunami, Shark regarded her as though she were a dead eel someone had left half-eaten on the beach.[2] She believes him to be arrogant, and once stated that when she became the queen of the SeaWings, she would make him sit in a lagoon and grow seaweed.[3] Tsunami was one of the few dragons that ever talked back to Shark.[3] He glared at her during a Council meeting[11] and shot her a look full of hatred when he was imprisoned. Tsunami felt that Auklet's egg would very much be much safer without Shark around.[13] Even when Tsunami saved Auklet's life, he did not act pleased or supportive at all.[10]
