==Personality ==
----
Queen Lagoon has been shown to be haughty and full of poise, referring to Indigo as a "low-born purple dragonet." She is also rather selfish, as she used both Albatross' and Fathom's powers for her own needs. She kept Albatross under her control for many years, forcing him to create whatever she desired with his magic. This is probably why Albatross went insane. It was said in ''[[Darkstalker (Legends)]]'' that she ordered Indigo to hunt in the middle of the night because the palace had run out of her favorite snack. This shows that Lagoon was selfish and actually quite lazy, and it shows that she doesn’t care much about other dragons. She also talked to Indigo as if she was a servant. She was also said to be skilled at negotiating peace.<ref>[[Eagle (Darkstalker)|Darkstalker (Legends)]] page 56</ref>

After a brief quarrel with Albatross, she watched as her brother pulled several coconuts out of nearby palm trees with his magic, instructing the dragonets to pick up their coconuts. After ordering their coconuts to fly through the air to Albatross, Fathom was confirmed an animus as his coconut struck his grandfather in the chest. "Do you think you're done? Do you think you'll ever be done atoning for what you did to Sapphire? It's not going to end, Albatross. You'll always be mine."
— Lagoon to Albatross, Darkstalker

(Not to be confused with Lagoon, Queen Coral's cook who was introduced in The Lost Heir.)

Lagoon was an adult female SeaWing queen who was introduced in Darkstalker and was the first victim of the Royal SeaWing Massacre by her brother Albatross. Before her death, she ruled over the SeaWing tribe with her husband, King Humpback, during Darkstalker's era. She was the mother of Splash and the great-aunt of Fathom and Pearl.

Description

Lagoon had sapphire-blue scales[1] and blue wings.[2] She wore a crown,[3] had a small, refined frown, and a glittering smile.[3]

Personality

Lagoon was cold,[4] poised,[2] blunt,[5] mean, divisive,[6] sinister, scrutinizing, and tended to either ignore[7] or order around[8] those she considered insignificant. She spoke silkily[9] and was skilled at negotiating peace.[10] She felt prejudice towards the lower classes, and believed in the higher importance of royal dragons.[8][11]

Biography

Pre-Series

Lagoon was next in line to rule the SeaWings, along with her sister, Princess Sapphire. She often liked to tease her younger brother, Albatross. One time, while teasing Albatross with Sapphire, Albatross accidentally enchanted a clam to bite all of Sapphire's claws off. Sometime afterwards, Lagoon forced Albatross to be her animus, telling him he would never stop atoning for what he did to Sapphire.

The Jade Mountain Prophecy

She was mentioned in the scroll that Moon read to have died during the Royal SeaWing Massacre.

Lagoon was indirectly mentioned as one of the victims of the Royal SeaWing Massacre.

Legends

Lagoon, alongside Albatross, was at a beach near the Island Palace for the purpose of testing all of the two-year-old SeaWings for animus magic. She sternly reminded Indigo not to disrupt the process, as she was playfully flicking sand onto Fathom. She congratulated him in a rather sly manner, as she wanted to use his power for her own needs and desires instead of for her kingdom.

Later on, the queen hosted a fancy party which was intended to negotiate with the visiting SkyWings, as there had been conflict over their shared border. She welcomed the two SkyWing delegates, Princess Sunset and Eagle, displaying an enchanted fountain as proof of her tribe's animus power. After Albatross finally appeared, she scolded him for being late, and in response he slit her throat with a knife he enchanted, killing her moments later.

Field Guides

Lagoon's letters to and from Albatross regarding the Talons of Power ceremony were featured in the SeaWing chapter of the guide.

She was later mentioned in the SkyWing chapter by Queen Carmine in her letter to Queen Pearl following the massacre.

Relationships

Lagoon did not seem to care about her brother and only used him for his magic. She saw him as expendable and less presentable than the new animus, Fathom.[12] She constantly mentioned Albatross maiming Sapphire, despite Albatross flinching away from mentions of the incident, as an excuse to continue abusing his animus magic.[13] It was her cruelty towards him and her abuse of his magic that drove Albatross into madness, which led to her death by his talons in the Royal SeaWing Massacre.

Before Fathom was revealed to be an animus dragon, Lagoon typically ignored him.[7] After the animus test, however, she smiled at him[14] and became much more interested in and controlling towards his affairs.[5] He once became angry towards her when she attempted to force Indigo into deep-sea fishing at night because the palace had run out of her favorite snack.[8]

Lagoon openly disliked Indigo, who was terrified by the queen.[7] She often glared at Indigo[15] and looked down her snout at the dragonet.[8] As Fathom grew older, her words towards Indigo became meaner and more pointed,[11] and she spoke to Indigo exactly as she did towards the servants.[5] She thought of Indigo as a "low-born" dragon and did not want her to marry her grand-nephew, Fathom.

She was shown to have respect for her sister despite Sapphire having turned insane from the incident with Albatross. Lagoon was the only royal SeaWing to visit Sapphire,[16] who was living far away from the family due to her mental condition. Her treatment of her brother in later years was partially in an act of vengeance for what he had unintentionally done to Sapphire.
