'''Princess Icicle''' is a royal female [[IceWings|IceWing]] [[Dragonets|dragonet]] and was a former student attending [[Jade Mountain Academy]] as a member of the [[Jade Mountain Academy#Gold Winglet|Gold Winglet]] and a clawmate to [[Sora]]. She is the niece of the late ruler [[Queen Glacier]] and cousin to the current [[Dragon Queens|queen]], [[Queen Snowfall|Snowfall]]. She was originally directly in line for the throne but became indirect, due to Snowfall becoming queen. She has two brothers, [[Ex-Prince Winter|Prince Winter]] and [[Prince Hailstorm]]. Hailstorm, the eldest brother, was trapped in the [[Sky Kingdom]] in the form of [[Prince Hailstorm/Pyrite|Pyrite]] by [[Ex-Queen Scarlet]]. This was why Icicle had attempted to murder [[Starflight]], and then had plans to kill the other three [[Dragonets of Destiny]] who were residing in [[Jade Mountain]], as Scarlet had made a deal with Icicle: That if she murdered the original four Dragonets of Destiny at Jade Mountain, then she would return the living Hailstorm to Icicle. Icicle figured that she could return back to the [[Queen Snowfall's Palace|Ice Palace]] with honor and glory among the IceWings for bringing her brother back, regardless of which dragons she killed along the way. She escaped from Jade Mountain after she was stopped from murdering Starflight by [[Moonwatcher|Moon]], [[Qibli]], and Winter. Her backup plan, in case she failed, was to the travel to the [[Rainforest Kingdom]] to try and murder [[Queen Glory]]. Since Glory was the Dragonet of Destiny who had ruined Scarlet's face, Icicle thought that killing her would make up for failing to kill the four Dragonets back at Jade Mountain. However, she failed to do so and was tranquilized by a [[RainWings|RainWing]] tranquilizer dart. She is currently awaiting trial in the [[Ice Kingdom]].

Icicle has pale-silver, gleaming white scales that had always been more pristine and glittering than everyone else's{{Ref|MR|178}}, described to be clean and shiny, even after hunting and clubbing a walrus to death by her brother Prince Winter, and glittering, pale arctic blue eyes{{Ref|MR|259}}. Icicle plunged into the frigid ocean six times a day back in the Ice Kingdom because she believed a glittering dragon is a more menacing dragon. She believes that the most pristine dragons should get to go in the [[Circle Rankings|First Circle]] and that grubby, dull dragons belong in the Seventh Circle. She is bigger than Winter, and has lethally sharp claws and gleaming teeth. She was also noted to be haughty-looking and aloof, and has a smooth, high-pitched voice.

Icicle is fierce and proud, probably due to her parents having high expectations of her and often pressuring her. She seems to be slightly concerned about her appearance, saying it makes her more menacing. She appears to be very secretive, hiding dangerous plots from even her own brother, Winter. She believes that Winter is weak and harmless. She is also vicious and determined, not hesitating to kill or harm others to get what she wants, and thinks "killing is easy enough". Despite this, Icicle sometimes shows a softer side, such as when she feels guilty for failing her elder brother, Hailstorm, and puts herself through a lot of pain so she doesn't have to watch him die in front of her. She cared about Hailstorm much more than Winter.

Icicle was confirmed by Moon and Sora to have killed [[Crane]] in the small battle between the IceWings and [[MudWings]] during the [[War of SandWing Succession]] before the Dragonets of Destiny came to the [[Mud Kingdom]]. She killed Crane by slitting her throat, grinning at Sora as she flew away. When Sora was placed in the same cave as Icicle, she was driven almost to madness and decided that Icicle needed to be brought to justice. This is the reason for her two assassination attempts on Icicle in ''[[Moon Rising]]'', which failed and effectively dished out critical damage to several other dragonets. This includes accidentally killing two of her fellow students, [[Carnelian]] and [[Bigtail]], and injuring a third, [[Tamarin]].

Icicle is a female IceWing dragonet princess who was introduced in Moon Rising. She formerly attended Jade Mountain Academy as a member of the Gold Winglet. After her failed attempt to murder the dragonets of destiny and Moonwatcher, she escaped Jade Mountain and fled to the Rainforest Kingdom, where she was soon arrested by Glory and Deathbringer. She is currently imprisoned and awaiting trial in the Ice Kingdom.

Description

Icicle has gleaming white scales.[1] She is pristine,[2] with pale,[3] arctic blue eyes.[4] She is haughty-looking,[5] with a smooth, high-pitched voice.[6] Her claws are sharp, her teeth gleam, and her spines are pristine even after clubbing a walrus to death; she plunged into the ocean six times a day before attending Jade Mountain Academy in order to appear clean, because she claims that a glittering IceWing is a more intimidating one. [4] She is larger than Winter[7] and most RainWings.[8] Later on, when she went into hiding, Winter described her to have bloodshot eyes, and that she was caked in mud and blood.[4]

Personality

According to Winter, Icicle is brilliant, dangerous, and prefers to hunt alone. He thinks that she would have rescued Hailstorm herself without asking for assistance from anyone[9] and is ferocious.[8] Although Moonwatcher would not have acted the way Icicle did and agreed that Icicle needed to be stopped, she understood Icicle's choices and did not believe that she was evil. Moonwatcher also described Icicle's mind as very cold and intense.[10] She is stubborn, fearless, and fiercely determined.[11][12]

Biography

Pre-Series
Icicle was confirmed by Moon and Sora to have been the one who killed Crane in the battle between the IceWings and MudWings during the War of SandWing Succession. Icicle killed Crane by slitting her throat, then grinned at Sora as she flew away.

The Jade Mountain Prophecy

Moon Rising
She and her brother, Winter, attended Jade Mountain Academy at Queen Glacier's insistence, and became clawmates with Sora. When Moon came back from talking to Stonemover on her first night, she heard a dragon who was speaking to Scarlet with a dreamvisitor. Darkstalker did not want to tell Moon who was contacting Queen Scarlet, because he knew that future ended in her death. Sora attempted to kill Icicle twice for killing her sister Crane during the war, accidentally killing Carnelian and Bigtail, and injuring Tamarin in the process. After the second failed attempt, Icicle then tried to kill Starflight, and planned to kill Sora later. Moonwatcher figured out that she was the one who was contacting Scarlet, but Icicle said that she was doing this to get her brother Hailstorm back. She tried to convince Winter that she was doing this for Hailstorm, but Winter objected and fought back. She then escaped out of a nearby window, her next target being Queen Glory.
Winter Turning

Icicle was found on the destroyed NightWing island with bloodshot eyes, having not slept in four or five days. She did this because she did not want to hear Scarlet tell her by the dreamvisitor that she had failed and that her brother was dead. She mentioned her plans to assassinate Glory, and Kinkajou unexpectedly tackles Icicle, pinning her to the ground. Before Icicle could kill Kinkajou, Deathbringer and Queen Glory arrived and tranquilized Icicle, who desperately screamed at Winter that she needed to stay awake, because Ex-Queen Scarlet might appear in her dreams. She was arrested and transported to the healers' hut, unconscious.

Before the effect of the tranquilizer dart sank in, she begged her brother to keep her from falling asleep. Winter told her to make a deal with Scarlet, saying that if he killed Glory, the former SkyWing queen would release his brother.

While Icicle was unconscious, she spoke to Scarlet and told her about the deal Winter made.

She was later seen flying with Queen Glacier back to the IceWing palace after Glory allowed her to return to the Ice Kingdom. Her punishment was up to Glacier, on the condition that she could have a cutting of the Moon Globe Tree for the RainWings and NightWings.
Escaping Peril
Icicle was mentioned to have been sent by Scarlet to kill the dragonets of destiny when Peril failed to do what Scarlet told her to do.
Talons of Power

While in the library at Jade Mountain Academy, Turtle noted how the hole Icicle had made when she escaped the academy had not been fixed yet.

While defending the idea of dragons from other tribes being able to get along with each other at Jade Mountain Academy, Moon stated that not all dragons were like Icicle or Flame or Sora.
Darkness of Dragons
She was briefly mentioned by Winter in the epilogue, when he said that he was allowed back in the Ice Kingdom for Icicle's trial, though only for a few days.

The Lost Continent Prophecy

The Dangerous Gift
Icicle was first mentioned, though not by name, when Snowfall thought about how she had stayed at the top of the wall, except for that time when her cousins ruined it for a few days. Icicle was mentioned by Snowfall to be in prison. She was also mentioned when Snowfall thought about the two IceWings sent to replace her and Winter at Jade Mountain.
The Flames of Hope
In Lynx's memory, she was shown playing with four other IceWing dragonets. The one who said "And maybe the walruses will eat her," was most likely Icicle.

Relationships

Hailstorm

Icicle seemed to care a lot more about Hailstorm than Winter, grieving for him as well as feeling guilty for failing him. Her love for Hailstorm was the motive behind working for Scarlet, as she would do anything to get him back. However, Hailstorm's feelings about Icicle are currently unknown.

Scarlet

Icicle was forced to kill the dragonets of destiny, but failed. Scarlet manipulated her, haunting her in her dreams every day to the point where Icicle burned herself to stay awake. Scarlet's sinister words made Icicle desperate to have her brother back.

Winter

Icicle cared little for Winter, favoring Hailstorm instead. She called him useless and a disappointment, seeming to have no emotional connection to him; however, Winter still cared about her even when she would not have loved him the same way.
