Medicine
From Wings of Fire Fandom Mirror
Medicine and herbs have been used by most tribes throughout both Pyrrhia and Pantala.
Known medicine and herbs
- Brightsting cactus: Its juice heals the venom of SandWing tail barbs.[1]
- Cactus sap: Qibli mentions a cactus sap that can heal burns.[2]
- Cobwebs: A RainWing medic was seen putting them on a shelf.[3]
- Corpse flowers: Sundew has some plants that are described as "shiny red, mottled with yellow streaks and curved in around itself so there was a hollow in the middle and a point at one end." Sundew tells Cricket to crush it under Swordtail's nose. When she does, it emits a horrible smell that made her eyes water. It woke Swordtail up.[4] These were later identified as "Corpse flowers."[5]
- Green plant stimulant: Cricket uses it to unfreeze Swordtail after he is paralyzed by a HiveWing nerve toxin.[6] It was light green, which Blue describes as the same color as grass[7] and was turned into emerald steam with flamesilk from a lamp, then inhaled by Swordtail. It had some unusual side effects, such as making him stronger, faster, crazier, and much more reckless.[8] It also turned his eyes and silk emerald green.[9] It is usually used to save plants that are poisoned, and makes them stronger and grow faster.[10]
- Minty paste: The RainWings have a paste that, when dabbed on injuries, numbs them.[11]
- Moss: Sundew has a bundle of moss that she says can "soak up an entire pond."[12] and the RainWing healers were seen storing it.[3]
- Sleep inducing plant: Sundew has this plant in one of her pouches.[13] She had Cricket use it on some guards.
- Smokeberries: Kinkajou took them while she had a wing injury. She stated that these berries gave her "the weirdest hallucinations".[14]
- Swordleaf root: Helps with headaches,[15] Thorn took it.
- Various leaves:
- RainWing healers used leaves to soak up blood and clean Icicle's wounds.[16]
- The RainWing healer hut was stocked with piles of medicinal leaves.[17]
- When the Librarian is bitten by a bullet ant, Sundew gives her a few dark green leaves and tells her to chew them up and spit them on the sting area, which eases the pain and makes her tongue feel very weird.[18]
Other examples
- Peril used her firescales to burn the venom of one of Blister's dragonbite viper out of Clay's leg.
- RainWing venom from related RainWings cancels each other out, turning the venom into a harmless gloppy black mess.
- Tranquilizer darts are used to keep patients sleeping. The RainWings say that it comes from a certain frog, and lasts for a few hours. Similarly, humans on Pantala have a flower juice that makes people sleep during surgeries.[19]
- When Qibli was hit by frostbreath in the arm when fighting with Winter, Thorn calls for water and hot coals to treat the injury.[20]
- The so-called "Heart of Salvation" was thought to be the cure to the othermind, but was revealed to be the breath of evil when Sundew and Mandrake attempt to grow more of it.[21]
- Diamond's five narwhal horns that heal frostbreath wounds.[22]
- Turtle's river stone that heals scales and muscles, but cannot heal internal organs or bones.[23]
- Darkstalker enchanted a flower to heal Flame's face,[24] and a stalactite to heal Stonemover.[25] These enchantments were not item-dependent.
- Darkstalker had enchanted a vine to temporarily heal Mindreader's dad.[26]
- Both Darkstalker and Turtle enchanted their scales to be invulnerable to attack.[27][28]
- Anemone enchanted Kinkajou's skyfire rock to heal her (along with a love spell).[29]
- Fathom enchanted Indigo's pearl necklace to heal and save her after the Royal SeaWing Massacre.
Known hospitals and medical centers
- The RainWing village has a healer's pavilion where the dragonets of destiny took Webs for treatment. It was mentioned that the healers were great at healing rainforest-related ailments such as sprained wings, stubbed claws,[30] and scratches from tree gliding, but they could not figure out how to heal Webs' SandWing venom wound.
- In Possibility, Winter, Moon, Qibli, and Turtle take Kinkajou to a medic when Shapeshifter severely injures her. The medics are a MudWing named Mayfly and a SandWing named Meerkat, and it is said that they are the best in Possibility.
- When Luna starts feeling sick because of her metamorphosis, Blue asks if she wants to go to the doctor, implying that there is a hospital in Cicada Hive.[31]
- Queen Ruby turned the arena of the SkyWing Palace into a hospital particularly for soldiers who were hurt in the War of SandWing Succession.[32]
- When Abalone grew very ill while guarding the unhatched SeaWing Princesses, Gill tried to get someone from the Deep Palace healing chamber to help him.
- The Summer Palace had a hospital as shown when Queen Coral ordered two guards to heal there.
- Jade Mountain Academy is known to teach Herbs and Healing[33] and has an infirmary.
- Tsetse Hive's university is dedicated to training doctors and healers in all areas of medicine from dealing with dragonet playground injuries to treating the very ill.[34]
