It has been confirmed that the protagonist of the book is a white and blue, male IceWing dragonet named Winter, who first appeared in the beginning of Moon Rising.

- Instead of The _ _ title pattern for the book titles, Moon Rising and Winter Turning appear to follow a pattern of the main character's name as the first word, and a gerund as the second.
