Tailwind
- "I have no idea what looks pretty or doesn't. I don't care about arranging my jewels just right or matching my rings with my eyes or whatever the fashion is. I like making strong, practical swords and then hitting bad guys with them."
- — Tailwind about themself, A Guide to the Dragon World

Description
Tailwind has ragged claws.[1]
Personality
Tailwind does not care about arranging their jewels properly or matching their rings to their eyes. They instead prefer to make and use swords and armor. They cite their ability to stay out of Queen Firestorm's way as the reason they were never kicked out of the palace.[2] They describe themself as "not the sentimental sort."[3] They are distrustful toward royal dragons, especially queens, assuming that they are usually evil.[4]
Biography
Pre-Series
Tailwind lived in the SkyWing palace during the reign of Queen Firestorm. They would avoid the queen, preferring to make and use swords instead of caring about their appearance. They were brought in to teach a class while Scarlet was still in the wingery which started their dislike for the princess.
Years later, Tailwind's brother, Canyon, told them that he had a crush on Scarlet which Tailwind teased him about. When Tailwind learned that Canyon and Scarlet were getting married, Tailwind attended the royal wedding.
When Canyon was put into the arena, Tailwind gifted their brother throwing daggers and armor, but Canyon did not survive.
Field Guides
Tailwind's This is Why We Don't Marry Psychopaths, a firsthand account of Queen Scarlet's youth and her mother, Queen Firestorm, was featured in the SkyWing chapter of the guide.
Relationships
Despite Canyon being their brother, Tailwind was not sentimental toward him. They believed that there was not a lot to love about him and viewed him as a dragon they happened to be related to.[3] They found him insufferable,[5] but still attended his wedding with Scarlet.[6] Although Tailwind described Canyon as egotistical, dim, careless, and self-obsessive, they gifted Canyon throwing daggers and armor for when he got put in the arena.[7]
