The book is predicted to be available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble around January 6, 2015. At a Book 5 Launch Party, Tui noted that the map might be updating for Books 6-10. Moon Rising begins at the dragonet's school at Jade Mountain.

• This is so far the only Wings of Fire book in which the title does not begin with the word "The".
• It will not include one of the five original dragonets of destiny, most likely <a data-rte-meta="%7B%22type%22%3A%22internal%22%2C%22text%22%3A%22Glory%22%2C%22link%22%3A%22Queen%20Glory%22%2C%22wasblank%22%3Afalse%2C%22noforce%22%3Atrue%2C%22wikitext%22%3A%22%5B%5BQueen%20Glory%7CGlory%5D%5D%22%7D" data-rte-instance="571430-59716312253c18da62869b" href="/wiki/Queen_Glory" title="Queen Glory">Glory</a>, since she would be ruling the rainforest.
