Template:Charbox Prince Jambu is a young male RainWing who was introduced in The Hidden Kingdom as the brother of Glory. Jambu enjoys dart shooting and his job as a tree gliding instructor for RainWing dragonets, and was one of the four RainWings selected by Glory participate in the RainWing Royal Challenge that took place in The Hidden Kingdom. He currently resides in the Rainforest Kingdom.

Appearance

Jambu's scales are often kept at a bright magenta or raspberry pink, implying an optimistic and cheerful personality. When he is upset, disappointed or sad, which seems to be rare, blue and grey will appear on his scales in the shape of clouds and he will make a "comically sad" face. He often carries a pouch of sleeping darts around his neck. He was also described as having narrow shoulders, and may have well-muscled limbs, wings, and tail, due to his forte in tree gliding (as shown by his tree race with Exquisite).

Personality

Jambu is usually cheerful, happy, and optimistic, he can also be exuberant, and sometimes obnoxiously as he usually is with Glory, his half-sister. He is horrified at the thought of no sunlight, as is normal with most RainWings, and very much enjoys calling Glory "Your Majesty". He finds having her as a sister "cool". He can seem to be quite annoying at times, but he is very cheery. He cares much about Glory and appears to know some history about RainWings since he was able to tell the story of Chameleon. Jambu isn't the smartest dragon, as stated by Glory, probably because it is mentioned in The Brightest Night that he could manage to mistake over two hundred NightWings for twenty.

Biography

The Hidden Kingdom

with Liana and a few other RainWings, caught the Dragonets of Destiny entering the Rainforest Kingdom, knocking them out with sleeping darts. He brought them back to the RainWing village and spent time with Glory, educating her about the RainWing culture. During this time, they compared their venom and discovered, that they were relatives, likely half-siblings. He revealed to Glory that the RainWings have no system of parents, and that every dragonet was raised collectively by the village.

After Mangrove ran away from the Rainforest Kingdom through the NightWing tunnel in hopes of finding Orchid, his mate, Jambu accompanied Glory and the other dragonets on their search, bringing them to the borders of the Ice Kingdom and Blaze's Fortress. Glory and Jambu disguised themselves as IceWings to gain entrance, and once inside they spotted Mangrove camouflaged in a corner. The two managed to convince Blaze to come outside to meet the dragonets.

Later, when Glory challenged the RainWing queens for the throne, Jambu competed in the treetop race against Exquisite. He lost after some of Exquisite's sloths tossed vines in his way, nearly choking him. However, Glory won the overall challenge due to Grandeur's forfeit against Kinkajou.

The Dark Secret

Jambu became one of Glory's most reliable RainWings after her coronation. He participated in Glory's mission to rescue the imprisoned RainWings in the Night Kingdom and was one of the first dragons to go through the portal. Starflight described him as either, "brave, or not knowing what he was getting himself into." He was also described as being one of the best shots with a blowgun in this book.

The Brightest Night

When Fierceteeth, Strongwings, and Preyhunter used the Obsidian Mirror to spy on Glory, she was shown instructing Jambu and Grandeur to count all the NightWings in the rainforest. Jambu was uneasy over this and was revealed to be terrible at counting, as he was only able to count to twenty. Later, Glory sent Jambu and Mangrove back to the Ice Kingdom to convince Blaze to attend the peace summit in Burn's stronghold. The mission failed, however, since Queen Glacier refused to allow Blaze to go because Glacier doesn't want to lose all of the promised lands if Blaze loses.

Winter Turning

He briefly appeared, smarting off to his half-sister, Queen Glory, while he was watching over the unconscious Princess Icicle. He told Glory the story of the RainWing that couldn't change his scale color; this later turns out to be Chameleon.

Trivia

  • Jambu is known to be one of the best shooters with the dart guns that the RainWings use.
  • In The Brightest Night, he states that he can only count up to 20, discovered when he attempted to count the number of NightWings that escaped from the volcano. However, he mistakingly identifies over 200 as 20, so he may not even be able to count up to that.
  • Jambu mentions in The Hidden Kingdom that he does not know what a scroll is, which causes Starflight to become upset.
  • Jambu's favorite color appears to be pink, as his scales are usually this color.
  • Jambu used the name Penguin in a passing scene in The Hidden Kingdom. Penguin was also an IceWing animus dragon who was mentioned in Darkstalker (Legends).
