"And so the dragonet's parents named him Comet, believing he was as shining and special as that shooting star, and surely destined for greatness."
Tales of the NightWings about Comet's name, A Guide to the Dragon World

Comet is a male NightWing dragonet who was featured in A Guide to the Dragon World. He is the main character in a story from Tales of the NightWings. Despite not hatching under any full moons, he has the power of foresight. He resides in the lost city of night.

Personality

As a dragonet, Comet had resentful and worried thoughts.[1] Despite this, he worked hard and was determined to bring honor to his tribe.[2]

Biography

Pre-Series

Comet hatched under no full moons, instead only a comet. When he showed no signs of having NightWing powers as a dragonet, he was taunted and teased by the other dragonets at school. Years later, Comet flew across the entire Night Kingdom to map the kingdom. While flying, he got caught in a storm but after it vanished, his friend Mindhealer told him that he had a vision. The two NightWings went to the queen about Comet's vision but the queen did not believe the two NightWings.

Comet and Mindhealer searched for every dragon that believed Comet and every dragon who loved a dragon who believed Comet. They took all of them to the mountains where they waited out the hurricane that showed up in the kingdom. Ever since then, everyone always listened whenever Comet had a vision.

Field Guides

Comet was featured in the NightWing chapter of the guide in the Tales of the NightWings.

Relationships

Mindhealer was the only dragon who was kind to Comet and the only dragon who comforted Comet when he was being made fun of.[2]

Trivia

  • Comet is named after the bright comet that was in the sky the night he hatched because his parents believed that he was as shining, special, and destined for greatness as the shooting star.[1]
