Carnelian
Template:Infobox CharacterCarnelian was a female SkyWing with scarlet scales at the Jade Mountain Academy in the Jade Winglet. She was a loyal soldier to Queen Ruby and was only attending the academy because she was ordered to. She believed she should be guarding the SkyWing Palace instead of going to Jade Mountain Academy. She killed in an explosion set up by Sora trying to kill Icicle, which charred her scales almost completely black. Moon remarked that she looked more like a Nightwing than a Skywing.
Biography
Moon saw Carnelian in the sleeping quarters and soon realized that she would rather fight in battles than go to school with other tribes by reading the Carnelian's mind. Carnelian constantly complained about how Kinkajou talked all day and Moon talked all night, and she shot mean looks towards Flame due to his past involvement with the Talons of Peace. Later, while Moon and Qibli tried to stop her from going into the history cave, she ignored them and walked in anyway, which thenSora's dragonflame cactus exploded, killing her along with Bigtail the Nightwing, and was however, actually meant to kill Icicle.
Personality
Carnelian was grumpy and preferred fighting over learning. She constantly wanted Queen Ruby to take her out of the school and let her go back to the SkyWing Palace to defend it, and as from what Moon saw from reading her mind, Carnelian was secretly worried that Ruby would think she was dumb and all of her hopes of advancing to general would be ruined. Carnelian was a bit violent and put up an proud front, but she was secretly insecure, like stated before. She did not like other dragons at all and rarely interacted with anyone, except when she met Umber. She thought since the SkyWings and MudWings were allies in the war, maybe she could make friends with Umber. However, this was not the case, as she died in the history cave from the explosion of the dragonflame cactus before a friendship could form.

- Carnelian was "a hard, tough reddish quartz used as a gem".
- Her favorite color was red.
- There was high hopes of her being the protagonist of Book 8, but she however died of the explosion
