"Actually, Clay says prophecies aren't like instructions. And they aren't messages saying 'This will definitely happen.' He says a prophecy can give you a hint in the right direction, but you have to choose what you do with it."
— Bullfrog to the rest of the stealth team, The Flames of Hope

(Not to be confused with Bullfrog, a RainWing medic who appeared in Winter Turning.)

Bullfrog is a male MudWing introduced in The Dangerous Gift. He was a member of the stealth team that travelled to Pantala to fulfill The Lost Continent Prophecy. He was formerly under the control of the othermind for a short period of time. He currently resides in the Mud Kingdom.

Appearance

Bullfrog is brawny, strong-looking, and nearly twice the size of the other dragons going on the journey to Pantala.[1][2] He has brown scales,[3] thick wings,[4] and a deep voice.[5]

Personality

Bullfrog is socially unaware as he does not understand Qibli's jokes.[6] He is usually very quiet.[2] He does not have a strong personality and if he did have a personality or passion, it was buried deep inside him.[2] He also seemed a bit ignorant, as he did not realize that stepping on Axolotl would hurt them.[7]

Biography

The Lost Continent Prophecy

Bullfrog was a volunteer chosen by Queen Moorhen to represent the MudWings for the mission to Pantala. When they were getting ready to leave Pyrrhia, Snowfall switched her attention from Sky to Bullfrog because she knew she would not get "sappy and sentimental about him."

Bullfrog stayed silent for most of the trip to Pantala. When the stealth team went under attack by a group of mind-controlled HiveWings, Bullfrog stayed with Cricket, Sundew, Luna, Lynx, Wren and Sky, all hidden with the gift of stealth. After the rest of the team were brought back to the Hives, Sundew and Lynx went to rescue the rest of their team while Bullfrog, Luna, Cricket, Wren and Sky waited for them on Pantala.

Bullfrog was later mentioned to have been looking for turtles with Sky while Luna's group waited for the rest of the stealth team to arrive. When Wren found a burnt out torch, a sign of possible human civilization, Bullfrog and the rest of the group decided to explore further into the cavern, where they saw their first Pantalan human, Axolotl. When they visited the Pantalan human for the third time, the gift of stealth had turned them all visible again. Bullfrog trapped Axolotl under his talons and let go once Wren told him to let go of Axolotl. After the fourth day of waiting, the remaining stealth team decided to go and find the abyss. When the Scorching came up in Luna's and Cricket's conversation about the contents of the dragon book Axolotl was reading, Bullfrog gave a vague explanation of the Scorching, though hesitantly.

On their way into the underground cavern, they ran into Pokeweed, who was confused by who and what Bullfrog was. Bullfrog later followed the stealth team, Bryony, Tau, and Dusky to find the abyss near the human colony. Bullfrog went back to the underground cavern to wait while Luna and Cricket went forward to see the abyss. Bullfrog and Cricket later went to find Sundew at Lake Scorpion after Cottonmouth used Luna to trick Cricket and the others. Bullfrog got injected in the fight between the stealth team and the mind-controlled LeafWings and HiveWings. Bullfrog was freed from the mind-control when Luna severed the breath of evil from Freedom.

Quotes

"Like.. over five thousand years ago? And no tribes. Dragons live mostly on their own. I think? And then a scavenger made a dragon real mad, so the dragon ate him, and then the dragon burned a bunch of stuff and got some other dragons to eat a bunch of more scavengers and burn a bunch of more stuff, and then they made a kingdom, and that was the Scorching. Yup."
― to Cricket, explaining the Scorching (The Flames of Hope, page 105)

"No, no no no, not your walking history book, me."
― to Cricket (The Flames of Hope, page 107)
