Blue

Template:SpoilerTLC Template:Charbox Blue is a young male SilkWing who was the protagonist of The Lost Continent. He is the biological son of Admiral and Burnet, being the half-brother of Luna and stepson of Silverspot. He, like Luna, inhertied the flamesilk ability from their father. 

Appearance

Blue has gem-like azure scales and iridescent violet wings, brighter and more purple than his scales. On the cover of The Lost Continent, he is depicted as the opposite: purple and blue with blue wings.

Biography

The Lost Continent

Blue was born in Cicada Hive, to Burnet. He never knew his father, Admiral, so his family as he grew up consisted of his half-sister Luna (who he considers his sister) and their mothers, Burnet and Silverspot. Blue is not exceedingly torn up about his lack of a father; he even mentions that Burnet and Silverspot love each other more than he thinks they could have loved Admiral.

At the beginning of the book, Blue is woken up by Luna, who excitedly announces that it is her Metamorphosis Day. They go to the market to buy honey drops, in order to celebrate Luna's Metamorphosis. On the way, they pass a group of propaganda posters warning them about LeafWings and the dangers of disobeying the queen, and Blue and Luna have a brief disagreement about whether LeafWings still exist. Afterward, they encounter Hawker, a HiveWing who checks their identification using metal bands on their wrist which is engarved with their ID and school, Silkworm Hall. Hawker remarks about Luna's metamorphosis. Luna and Blue then go inside the Hive, where they end up in a candy store called The Sugar Dream. Chafer, the salesdragon, along with two other rude HiveWings, give Blue and his sister a hard time at first, until Lady Scarab demands that they be served and helps them out. After that, Blue and Luna walk around the Hive, going about their business and celebrating for Luna's Metamorphosis. When they enter the Mosaic Garden, Luna complains that her wrists hurt a little, and Blue prays that Luna will have a normal Metamorphosis.

Unfortunately, the oddities just keep building, as they get to the Cocoon, and there are five guards there, instead of the usual two. Blue is sent to the balcony, where he waits with his mother, Luna's boyfriend Swordtail, and Swordtail's sister, Io. The others seem particularly worried as well, but won't tell Blue what they know. As Luna enters her metamorphosis, instead of using normal silk for her cocoon, flamesilk erupts from from her wrists. Immediately, the guards bundle her up and take her away, though Swordtail fights tooth and claw to stop them. Blue doesn't see the result of this conflict, as he is hustled out the door by his mother and Io. They insist that he run, revealing that there is a chance that he is a flamesilk as well, and thus Queen Wasp would want to lock him up. This theory is quickly proven as guards pursue Blue and Io, and they flee to another level.

They land in a park next to a HiveWing school, and Blue notes all the families playing and enjoying the end of there day. Posing as SilkWing servants, they manage to remain unnoticed for a few moments, until the HiveWing Queen takes over the entire Park (and presumably the Hive) looking for them. I’m gets tangled up in fighting, and is unable to help Blue fly away from the ledge at the edge of the park. Instead, she shoots silk for him to climb on, and he manages to get over the fence of the HiveWing school. As he contemplates where to hide, a voice beckons him from a shed, and he squashes in with his rescuer. She leads him to a trap door in the side of the shed, and through the tunnels beyond it, which seem to range all over the school. As a bit of light falls on her scales in the tunnel, Blue realizes that his rescuer is a HiveWing, and wrestles with this new information.

• Blue's original green color may have been scrapped for Luna.
• Blue is the eighth mainstream protagonist to have a special power (flamesilk). The others are Clay (fire resistance), Sunny (hybrid), Moonwatcher (moon-born powers), Peril (firescales), Darkstalker (hybrid, animus, and moon-born powers), Turtle (animus), and Cricket (mind-control immunity).
• Blue is one of three dragons whose book description does not match the cover, the others being Tsunami and Qibli.
• Blue is in love with Cricket, as stated at the end of The Lost Continent.
• On the cover of The Lost Continent, Blue is depicted with wings, when in reality, he doesn't have wings for the entirety of the book, not having undergone Metamorphosis.
