NightWing palace
Template:Infobox Location The NightWing palace is located on the Night Kingdom Peninsula. It was where many celebrations were held during Darkstalker, and also where Clearsight lived and worked when she served as Queen Vigilance's private seer.
Description
Historic era
The palace is partially built into the mountain[1] and has many towers, including the Royal Tower that Darkstalker showed Fathom and Indigo.[2] The top spire has a prisoner display.[3] The hallways are made of black marble with mirrors every three steps.[4] The guest suite that Fathom stayed in has a large black door that closely resembled many of the other doors in the palace.[5] There is also a fountain in the corner of the room, and several candles lit the room.[6] The SeaWing guest chambers were decorated with seafoam greens and blues.[citation needed]
The throne room has a central dais that held the queen's throne.[7]
The palace has a library, and this was where Clearsight spent most of her time calculating possible futures for Queen Vigilance. The library also has a librarian's desk. While she was working in the library, Clearsight filled up seemingly hundreds of scrolls, and it was described that dragons had to wade through the scrolls to get anywhere in the library.[8]
Vigilance's palace was the center palace for the NightWing tribe and was once inhabited by Queen Vigilance. The palace includes royal suites (one of which Fathom and his bodyguards had stayed in), a throne room, a royal tower,[2] and more. The palace was briefly ruled by Darkstalker when he became king of the NightWings and brought most of his tribe back to the lost city. However, he was soon defeated, and the tribe returned to the Rainforest Kingdom. It is part of the Great Diamond, made up of the palace, a school, a library, and a museum.
The throne room is usually used for Queen Vigilance's parties. It is also the site of fights for enchanted armbands and appears many times in the futures seen by Clearsight and Darkstalker.
There was mentioned to be a royal treasure room somewhere within the palace.[9] The top spire of the palace had a prison set up for special prisoners.[3]
Modern era
The palace ruins massive and imposing,[10] about five times as large as the Deep Palace,[11] with dark chambers[12] and a hallway that leads into a long colonnade encircling and overlooking a courtyard.[10] Statues of dragons carved from black marble dot the courtyard, all of them with diamonds for eyes.[10] The courtyard also contained a throne.[13]
The room used by Fathom and Indigo is dusty and deserted. It is run-down, and the fountain, surrounded by a tiled pool, is in disuse. A blanket[10] and Darkstalker's original soul reader also resided in this room until it was taken by Qibli.[12]
History
The Jade Mountain Prophecy
When the palace was rediscovered, it was turned into King Darkstalker's new residence. He placed Turtle in one of the "darkest dungeons" in the palace after summoning all animus dragons.
Legends
Darkstalker and his family were invited to the queen's palace upon finding out he had magic. Fathom — another animus — was present as a guest to teach Darkstalker the dangers of animus magic. Later in the book, Clearsight moved in as the queen's new seer. During the fall of Darkstalker, the palace was vacated due to the NightWings fleeing from danger.
