Tribe articles are about the dragon tribes in the series. (Example: MudWings.)

Article Structure

A tribe article should be structured as follows:

  • Introduction
  • Description
  • Diet
  • Abilities
    • Animus magic (where applicable)
  • Society
  • Names
  • Trivia
  • Gallery
  • References
  • Navboxes
  • Categories

Below you can find more detailed information on what to keep in mind while editing each section.

Introduction

  • The Introduction paragraph should include essential information about the tribe. This includes the tribe's name/s, continent, kingdom of residence, and current ruler.

Description

  • This section includes the tribes physical appearance.
  • Include all known scale colors, eye colors, and markings.
    • If markings only occur in certain types of dragons (e.g royalty) include that information as well.
    • Any information that is not from the dragon guides must be cited from the books.
  • Do not include information about appearances sourced from hybrid dragons.

Diet

  • This section includes any foods the tribe has been known to eat or prepare, as well as any common dietary preferences or eating habits.
    • Information such as SandWings being sparing eaters goes here, with citation.

Abilities

  • Describe the tribe's abilities, as mentioned in the dragon guides. This may include natural weapons, powers, and capabilities unique to the tribe.
  • Describe any other abilities of the tribe, including rare, secretive, or unusual powers.

Animus magic

  • Not necessary if a tribe has never been mentioned to have animus magic before.
  • Briefly describe animus magic's use, rules, or history within the tribe.

Society

  • Describe the tribe's general characterization, or how they are stereotyped by other tribes.
    • Traits that the tribe encourages or respects are also noted here.
  • Any unique patterns to relationships within the tribe (e.g MudWings not forming partnerships.)
  • Any smaller societal norm or structure, including:
    • How dragonets are raised and named.
    • How family units (or lack thereof) are formed/made up.
    • What age a dragonet is considered an adult.
    • Special rules around what dragonets are permitted to do.
    • Special conditions around where dragons live or what they do for work.

Names

  • Indicate general naming patterns or conventions, including examples.
    • This section also includes any naming rules or guidelines a tribe may have, such as the RainWing list of names.

Animus dragons

  • List all known animus dragons from the tribe.

Trivia

  • This section is used for information that does not fit elsewhere on the page.
    • In particular, this section should be used for statements made by Tui at online or in-person events.
    • Statements made on an official Scholastic media (websites, social media, etc.) are also acceptable.
  • The Gallery section should contain the <gallery> </gallery> syntax around all image files.
  • The Gallery section should only contain canonical imagery. This may include cover illustrations, graphic novel art, Home Base assets, and any promotion-specific material released by Scholastic.
  • Fanart is not allowed in the Gallery section.

References

  • You can add a citation of a book page (in source mode) by using the Ref template (click the link for an explanation on how to use it). Citations of sources outside the books can be done using the <ref></ref> syntax (in source mode) or by selecting the Insert tab and clicking Reference in the drop box (in Visual Editor mode).
    • Please do not use <ref></ref> for book citations, and replace them with the proper format when necessary.
  • If a citation is used anywhere on the article (via the Ref template or the <ref></ref> syntax), this section needs to be added to the page so the citation displays properly. In most cases, this is done by adding {{References}} to the section. Citations from external sources such as events belong in {{EventReferences}}.
  • If there are no citations on an article, this section can be omitted.
  • Navboxes are a quick way to navigate around information about a specific tribe. They include article links for known dragons, locations, and societal information. Navboxes should only be added to pages they link to, including the tribe’s members, events, and relevant locations.
  • You can add a navbox by using {{Tribe Navbox}} (Example: {{HiveWing Navbox}}).

Categories

Categories are an easy way to find things on our wiki. You can find all the existing categories at the Category Guide or the Category Tree.
All tribes should be placed into the following categories:
