Scavenger

The Scorching was a period of time in Pyrrhia when the dragons overthrew the scavengers, or humans. It is also the time when the dragon tribes were formed thus allowing dragons to get help when they needed it making it extremely hard for humans to kill even one dragon. It is mentioned several times in the first book.
