Dinner is a fox that was animus touched by Stonemover and programmed to bring him food every now and then so that he could still lead a normal life for a fox. Stonemover animus touched Dinner after he began to turn to stone so he wouldn't starve to death.

As stated by Stonemover, living things can be animus touched, but it requires one to put massive amounts of energy into them.
