Blob is an animus-touched piece of carved driftwood in the shape of an octopus that was introduced in Darkstalker. He was created by Fathom as a pet for Indigo. He currently resides in the Court of Refuge, under the care of Paua.
Description
Blob is small and made of bleached-white driftwood.[1] He is adorable,[2] about the size of a full-grown dragon's foot, with eight[3] cheerfully flippy tentacles and a mischievous expression.[3] He has small, dark eyes[4] and still feels like wood, but malleable and warm at the same time.[2] He lacks ears.[5]
Personality
Blob was content, curious,[2] and gentle.[1] He was enchanted by Fathom to have the sweetest, most loyal, most agreeable personality of any pet in Pyrrhia.[3] He had an innocent face, but it was very unclear whether he understood any of Indigo's instructions; sometimes he was dutiful, obedient, and perfect, and sometimes he immediately did exactly the opposite of whatever she asked him to do.[5]

Fathom enchanted a piece of bleached white driftwood to become a carving of an octopus. He then willed it to be alive as Indigo's pet, and to be the "best and most loyal pet in Pyrrhia." Indigo named him Blob, as he climbed onto her head. Later when Indigo, Fathom, and Pearl were preparing for a party, Blob was perched on Indigo's head. When the dragonets had to leave for the party, Indigo told Blob to stay, because she could not bring him with her. When Fathom told Indigo he was going to carve something for Clearsight, Indigo mentioned she still had Blob but kept him hidden. Sometime after Indigo disappeared, Fathom spotted Blob under his blankets. Fathom quickly hid him, and wondered why Indigo left without Blob. When Darkstalker showed Fathom his animus scroll, he was irritated that Fathom's thoughts were preoccupied with a mystery involving an octopus instead of paying attention to the scroll. Later, when Fathom freed Indigo from Darkstalker's enchantment, he grabbed Blob and showed him to Indigo. She then happily set Blob on her head and told him to hang on tight. Five years later, Blob was seen playing with Fathom and Indigo's dragonets and then resting on the head of one of their dragonets, Ripple. |
Relationships
Blob snuggled in close to Indigo, and often sat atop her shoulder. Indigo was delighted to have him,[2] and loved him very dearly.[6] She was happy and joyful when they were reunited before leaving the lost city of night.[7]
Paua is Blob's current owner.
