Wings of Fire Island

Wings of Fire Island is an interactive island on Scholastic's Home Base interactive gaming platform. It is separate from the main island of Home Base.

Layout

Wings of Fire Island has three main areas: the Scorpion Den, the RainWing village, and the Summer Palace, with Qibli, Glory, Tsunami and Snowfall as characters the player can talk to and interact with.

Minigames

Wings of Fire Island currently has five games: Qibli's Quest, Jambu's Camouflage Challenge, Kinkajou's Fruit Find, Venom Victory and Speed Wings. Minigames can help you earn tokens to buy items in the game's virtual shop. You get them usually because you ranked high in the leaderboards or got a medal.

Qibli's Quest

You play as Qibli on a mission to stop Vulture by collecting boxes of dragonflame cactus and avoiding his Talons of Power, axes, and fireballs. If you are stung by a Talon of Power, get a brightsting cactus as quickly as possible.

Kinkajou's Fruit Find

Match three or more fruit to fill up the juice bar. Use special power fruits, but be quick, because the juice bar is ever-draining!

Jambu's Camouflage Challenge

Find the objects and dragon hidden in the Rainforest as fast as possible!

Venom Victory

Aim and shoot the blowdarts at the targets. If you miss a certain amount of times, the game is over.

Speed Wings

Speed Wings is a racing game. Dodge obstacles and fly through hoops, called speed boosts, to gain speed. If you crash into a cloud, island or other obstacle, you will lose speed. You can play as Exquisite, Kinkajou, Magnificent, Mango, Tamarin, or Grandeur.

Controls

In the game, you control your dragon by using the up and down arrows to go up and down respectively. Alternatively, you may use the left arrow to go up and right arrow to go down. These arrows are located on the computer keyboard. The characters move forwards automatically.

Quotes in the game

Qibli

If you first click on Qibli, he will say "Welcome to the Kingdom of Sand. Watch your step - the dunes shift." or "Nice earring, huh? All the dragons are wearing them these days." or "Things are getting heated in the Kingdom of Sand! Get it? Because it's so hot here? Man, I'm funny."

If you click on the What's Up? button, he will say "I'm definitely not thinking about that time I thought that dumb thing and Moon heard. Nope, never! What's up with you?" and "I'm happy to be back home with the Outclaws and Queen Thorn."

If you click on the Who are you? button he will say, "I'm Qibli. When I'm not trying to save all of Pyrrhia from the most dangerous dragon in the history of the world with the rest of the Jade Winglet, I help the Outclaws keep things running in the Kingdom of Sand. In my spare time, I like hanging out with Moon, eating scorpions, and hanging out with Moon."

If you click on the What's happening on this island? button, he will say "5 SandWing eggs got misplaced around here, if you could help find them that would be eggs-elent. I'm hilarious in a crisis, I know. They should be in the desert, have you looked behind a cactus?"

Snowfall

When you first click on Snowfall, she will say "It's nice and cold here, like a little slice of my kingdom. Too flammable though, whoever made this place should be stuffed into an igloo." or "You think you can call be Queen Snowfall? Don't even THINK about trying to enter my kingdom. I'm the queen of the IceWings and I'll keep them safe. No matter what." or "I will NOT be disrespected!"

If you click on the What happening? button, she will say: "Am I alright? Am I alright? Who asks a question like that to a queen? Of course I'm alright. I'd be more alright if animus magic were working and I didn't have to worry about my kingdom and my crown weren't so heavy. You won't believe what I have to deal with in The Dangerous Gift."; or "Can you believe animus magic stopped working just like that? Everyone is just USELESS nowadays! If you figure out what happened you'd better tell me first. I order you as queen."; or "I don't have time to talk. There's an onslaught of invading dragons flying towards my kingdom. How about you click on that book podium instead of bothering me with inane chatter." Alongside this, there is an animation of her looking indignant before resting.

Glory

If you first click on Glory, she will say "Have you found a sloth? RainWings like to keep them as pets. And even though they look like prey--don't eat them." or "The huts in the NightWing Village are leaking again! Stupid NightWings and their stupid pride." or "You've found the Rainforest Kingdom! You must not be the most useless dragon, after all." or "I hope you like eating fruit and taking naps, because we do a lot of both around here! But we're also working hard to make this kingdom run smoothly, so don't be a total sloth."

If you click on the What's Up? button, Glory will say "Deathbringer and I are practicing our venom shooting. In what will come as a surprise to no one, I'm better at it."

If you click on the Who are you? button, she will say "I'm Queen Glory and this is my pet sloth, Silver. I'm one of the dragonets of destiny--yes, a RainWing is one of the dragonets! I'd like to see a SkyWing try to pull off my deadly moves. I'm one of the founders of the Jade Mountain Academy, but I spend most of my time trying to get my RainWings to nap less."

If you click on the What happening on this island? button, she will say "Of course the dragons in charge of the hatchery didn't notice that 5 RainWing eggs were missing. Could you help me find them all? They must be hidden around here in the rainforest, feel free to help yourself to a papaya while you're searching."

Tsunami

When you first click on Tsunami, she will answer you with: "You must be a pretty good swimmer to have made it all the way to the Summer Palace! Are you part SeaWing?" or "Of course I'm the lost SeaWing princess! With my diplomacy and leadership skills, I'm a natural born ruler".

If you click on the What's Up? button, she will say: "I've been practicing my Aquatic. It's a hard language, but I'm already very good at it." and "I'm enjoying my break from the Jade Mountain Academy. It would be nice if the students could stay in the school for more than five minutes!"

If you click on the Who are you? button, she will say: "I'm Princess Tsunami. I helped found the Jade Mountain Academy with the other dragonets of destiny. Because of my amazing leadership abilities, I'm the Head of School. I'm also a highly skilled fighter, even better than Riptide."

If you click on the What's happening on this island? button, Tsunami will reply: "You have to help me find the 5 lost SeaWing eggs before Queen Coral finds out their missing! They should be around here on the beach or in the Summer Palace."

Trivia

• At one point in the game, Qibli's Quest was misspelled as "Qibbli's Quest."
• Even though Glory said that she is practicing venom shooting with Deathbringer, Deathbringer doesn't have venom, so this is impossible.
• There is a live minigame, known as the "Gem Hunt," in which players have to find missing jewels of the SeaWing palace.
• There is also a shop on the island, in the Kingdom of Sand, allowing players to buy clothes and accessories for their avatar.
• The Wings of Fire Island is also a place where Scholastic has started to do reveals on. An example of this was the reveal of the cover for Dragonslayer on October 23, 2019, at 5:00 EST.
• The model of Glory and the model of Tsunami are missing the membranes on the front of their wings.
