Template:Infobox Location Valor is a human settlement introduced in Dragonslayer. It is an underground city built from tunnels near the Claws of the Clouds Mountains, as the previous town was burned down by dragons.

Description

Valor is an underground city located near the Claws of the Clouds Mountains. According to Sunny in The Brightest Night, where Sunny was able to hear them underground, it stretches for miles. Valor consists of cramped tunnels,[1] as well as the outside world where Wingwatchers serve as warning messengers if a dragon were to approach the city.

Notable Features

Dragonslayer Way

Dragonslayer Way is a tunnel that was excavated by a group of women, mothers, and children.[2] Heath took the credit for the construction of the tunnel and named it after himself.[3]

Underground Lake

The underground lake is connected to the village through multiple tunnels, and is Valor's source of water. Water is supplied to the village from an underground lake that students of the school take water from every recess.[3]

Meeting Hall

The meeting hall is where important gatherings and banishments are held.[4]

Unnamed School

There is a school that is formed by a series of several tunnels.[5] Ivy, Daffodil, and Violet attended this school at the age of seven.

History

When Sunny was following Fierceteeth, Strongwings, and Preyhunter past Jade Mountain to the Kingdom of Sand, she hid in a forest nearby. In this forest, she heard some odd noises coming from the underground. At first, she thought they could be rabbits or groundhogs. She could hear these noises from farther away too, telling her it wasn't just a small area. It is likely that this underground area was Valor. Nearby the area where Sunny heard the noises, she saw a charred area of land, and upon closer inspection, realized it was a destroyed scavenger village.

Valor first formally appears in the third chapter as Ivy's hometown. It is one of the main locations throughout the book.

Trivia

  • The SandWing treasure was hidden in a safe under Queen Oasis's tail barb in Heath's home. It was unlocked with the password MINE,[6] though the treasure is no longer there.
  • In Valor, the ruler is called the lord.[7]
