Slaughter was an adult male NightWing guard who was introduced in Assassin. He is Vengeance's cousin and was killed by Deathbringer in a deal to allow Deathbringer to leave the NightWing island with Quickstrike.
Appearance
Slaughter was too thin, like most NightWings, and had a twitchy, furious look, even in his sleep. He had black wings.[1]

Biography
Winglets
Slaughter was first mentioned when Morrowseer suggested Quickstrike train Slaughter or Vengeance instead of Deathbringer, although she refused the offer. Quickstrike later made a deal with Greatness and Morrowseer — if her son, Deathbringer, could kill either Slaughter or Vengeance, he would be able to go to the mainland with her for the newest assassination mission, despite being underage by NightWing standards.
Deathbringer briefly recalled Slaughter's reputation while deciding whether to kill Slaughter or Vengeance. Deathbringer decided that killing Vengeance was too risky, as there were too many witnesses around the latter. Deathbringer crept up to Slaughter while he was sleeping, but was interrupted unintentionally by Morrowseer, who woke Slaughter and immediately warned him of the incoming assassination attempt. Deathbringer still managed to sneak up and kill Slaughter by slitting his throat while Morrowseer was leading him out of the room.
Deathbringer later talked to his mother the process of the entire assassination attempt. By the end of the story, Morrowseer mentioned Slaughter again when he complimented Deathbringer's first assassination attempt.
