The Scorching was a period of time, in Pyrrhia, when the dragons overthrew the currently dominant life form, the scavengers.

Dragon tribes were formed based on abilities and habitats (sand, water, mud, etc). Each tribe chose a queen, thus allowing dragons to get help when they needed it (such as Osprey), making it extremely hard for humans to kill even one dragon, which is mentioned several times in The Dragonet Prophecy.

Little is known about the Scorching, but it was most likely a horrible time for scavengers.
