Osprey is a very old and nearly blind pale red Skywing who was the defense for the Skywing trials, though he didn't do it very well. Queen Scarlet holds the trials to seem like a just ruler and for entertainment. He was also Peril's (Kestrel's daughter) friend.

Osprey told Peril stories of when he was younger, when he guarded tons of treasure. A scavenger came to steal it one day and managed to paralyze his tail before he ate it. Osprey could no longer fly and gave all his treasure to Queen Scarlet in order for him to live there.

Unfortunately, during Kestrel's trial, (Against Vermillion, Scarlet's son,) he argued a good defense. She ordered him to be executed for boring her, along with Kestrel. Peril calls upon the tradition of the Champion's Shield, and stands for Kestrel, her mother. Queen Scarlet discovers that Osprey told her about the Skywing law, and drops him high above the arena, killing him.
