A typical Nightwing. Art by Joy Ang.

NightWings are large, powerful, dragons that live in a secret kingdom not on any Pyrrhian map. The name of their queen is Queen Battlewinner, although this is a highly guarded secret.

The Dragonet Prophecy was prophesied by a NightWing named Morrowseer. They consider themselves above other dragons, and too mysterious and powerful to take part in the war, although they might be working with Blister in exchange for something they want, and they are experimenting with RainWings.

IceWings and NightWings have animosity towards each other going way back to a battle they once fought against each other. Strangely, Deathbringer defied this when he flirted with a 'IceWing' (that was really Glory). Their hatred is displayed when Morrowseer murdered all of the IceWing prisoners in the rescue of Starflight. This scene also shows that NightWings don't care about the other tribes much. However, Morrowseer did write the prophecy, so the NightWings must care about the other tribes somewhat.

They kidnapped several RainWings for experimentation. It is believed they are trying to use the venom of the RainWings as a weapon, although this is unconfirmed. Additionally, they seem to have some kind of portal, perhaps a wormhole, which they use to visit their kingdom, the Kingdom of Sand, and the Rainforest Kingdom

They are usually named according to their talents. Morrowseer got his name for "seeing" the "morrow." Deathbringer got his name for bringing death. Queen Battlewinner presumably got hers for military strategy. In the stories about them, that is usually how they are named. The reason for Starflight's name is unknown, although it may relate to him going into space.

Description

NightWings are covered in purplish-black scales. The underside of their wings are speckled with silver scales, giving it the appearance of a night sky filled with sparkling stars. This allows them to blend into shadows and the night. They also have forked black tongues and straight, pointed horns.

Abilities

They are described as the night coming down on you. They slink unseen in shadows and blend into the night, which gives them a fearsome reputation.

They also possess mystical abilities. They have the ability of mind-reading and telepathy, as well as being able to tell the future. They are also able to breathe fire at any time, like SkyWings and SandWings. They can also disappear into dark shadows and appear out of nowhere in the dark of night, but these may not be powers. However, the wormhole used by the NightWings may be what spawned the myth of appearing out of nowhere. It should be known that the NightWing Starflight, currently is only able to breathe fire, not read minds like most NightWings.
