Newt is a MudWing dragonet of unknown gender who attends Jade Mountain Academy as a member of the Quartz Winglet.

The Jade Mountain Prophecy
While Secretkeeper was dropping Moonwatcher off at Jade Mountain Academy, Moonwatcher spotted two MudWing dragonets laughing and racing to the school. Considering that there were only two other MudWings beyond Clay's siblings attending Jade Mountain, it was most likely one of these MudWings was Newt and the other was Sepia.
After Sunny and the rest of the dragonets made the speech on the bombing in the history cave, Newt was seen briefly walking with Sepia, looking for a muddy spot to lie in on Jade Mountain.
