Moonwatcher

Template:Infobox CharacterMoonwatcher, preferring the nickname "Moon", is a NightWing dragonet that is the main character in book 6; Moon Rising. She is telepathic and precognitive, unlike any other NightWings in the recent past. She also spoke the first true prophecy in over century, known as the Jade Mountain Prophecy. Darkstalker is teaching her how to use her powers. She is amazingly fast at hunting, especially compared to the other NightWings. Moon also has teardrop scales next to her eyes which are a symbol of her powers. It is very possible that both Winter and Qibli have crushes on her.

Biography

The Brightest Night

When the dragonets of destiny discussed potential students for their inter-tribal school on Jade Mountain, Deathbringer mentioned Moonwatcher, saying that her mother had left her egg alone in the Rainforest Kingdom. Her egg had cracks and was silver when she was to hatch. Her mother and she did not spend much time together before the volcano exploded. She had to teach herself to hunt.

Moon Rising

It has been revealed that she encounters Winter, a male IceWing, on her way to the Jade Mountain Academy he hates at first sight and then seems to like her later in the story, Moonwatcher had figured that out by reading his mind. She is also a part of the Jade Winglet in the school. She also becomes friends with Kinkajou from Books 3-6. Qibli in his mind notes that she is pretty and used a lot of effort in becoming friends with her. Turtle the SeaWing in her group was the first to figure out that she had had the NightWing powers. Carnelian the SkyWing in their winglet was not very nice and mostly complained and muttered harsh words against her. Turtle the SeaWing was nice but Moon couldn't figure out why she couldn't read him until they talked to Onyx and discovered the Skyfire. She later figured out that Sora was the one who caused the explosion and goes to help her because Icicle knows as well. Moon realizes why Sora wants Icicle dead; because Icicle killed Crane Sora's younger sister. They go to the library to save Starflight from being killed by Icicle. They get there in time to see Icicle sneaking up on Starflight and were abe to stop her and make her go out of Jade Mountain going to either kill Glory or meet up with Scarlet.

Trivia

• She is the one of two characters in the series to go by a nickname, the other being Magnificent. (whose nickname is Maggie).
• She is the one of the three known NightWings who have the powers that they were thought to have, the others are Darkstalker and Clearsight.
• Her egg was hatched under the two moons of Pyrrhia and gave her two powers: mind reading and prophecy. One moon at hatching gives either mind reading or foresight while two at hatching gives both. Three moons at hatching is said to augment the first two abilities.
• On the cover pages for all the books, Moon is the only one with her mouth shut. All the others, including Winter Turning, has their mouths open, roaring. Moon also looks worried, while the other dragonets look fierce.
