Mayfly is an adult female MudWing who was introduced in Winter Turning. According to Meerkat, she is the best doctor in Possibility.[1]
Appearance
Mayfly has brown scales and a wide, flat face.[2] Her back left leg and half of her tail are covered by blackened and blistered frostbreath scars, and she has two missing claws.[3]
Personality
Mayfly is very strict about her space.[1] When she spotted Hailstorm and Winter looking into her office through the window, she snapped at them, slamming a stinky jar in front of their faces to drive them away. This may be due to her frostbreath injury, given to her by an IceWing.[3] She gave a professional delivery of Kinkajou's condition to Moonwatcher.[4]
Biography
The Jade Mountain Prophecy
After Kinkajou was attacked by Chameleon (as Shapeshifter), her friends sought out a doctor in Possibility. Qibli asked Meerkat for directions to someone who could help. Upon hearing the name "Mayfly," Winter doubted a MudWing's ability to help, thinking that there weren't any MudWings smart enough to be doctors. Qibli and Meerkat reassured him that she was the best doctor in Possibility. After seeing Kinkajou, Mayfly was doubtful that a dragon could have caused the RainWing's injuries. She eventually accepted their story and took Kinkajou and Moonwatcher inside her workplace.
While the others were waiting outside, Hailstorm overheard Mayfly telling Moonwatcher that she initially thought Kinkajou was an IceWing because her scales had turned white with pain. He stuck his head through the window, retorting that Kinkajou looked nothing like an IceWing, and Mayfly angrily snapped at Hailstorm and Winter for blocking the light, placing a foul-smelling jar on the windowsill for emphasis.
