Template:Infobox Mangrove is a RainWing featured in The Hidden Kingdom. He and his partner Orchid are fruit gatherers for the tribe. He is first seen in Queen Magnificent's treehouse, waiting in line to see the queen to protest about the missing RainWings.

Biography

Mangrove is described as being quite unhappy, for the reason that he has been neglecting his "sun time". He is desperate to find Orchid, his lost partner and one of the seventeen captured RainWings. He volunteers with Glory to look for the "rainforest monster," and later travels through a wormhole to get to the Ice Kingdom, where he believes Orchid may be.

Glory and Jambu then disguise themselves as IceWings and find him hiding in Blaze's Fortress near the Ice Kingdom and rescue him.

During the competition in which Glory tries to become queen, she picks Mangrove as part of her team. He participated in the fruit gathering contest and collected seventeen fruit, beating Queen Dazzling by one who originally had nineteen (through cheating), but ate three on the way back.

Starflight and Glory led an attack on the NightWings through the wormhole. There they rescue Splendor, Orchid, the rest of the missing RainWings, and Deathbringer. Mangrove and Orchid reunite by locking tails.

Starflight mentions that he was feeling a rumbling in the earth, and Mangrove replied that it was "like all the happiness in us is trying to burst out."

Mangrove appears in The Brightest Night when tasked along with Jambu to enter the Ice Kingdom disguised as IceWings.

When Glory visits Burn's Stronghold at the end of the book, he and Grandeur are left in charge of the Rainforest Kingdom.

Trivia

  • Glory seems to trust Mangrove more than the other RainWings.
