Template:Infobox LocationJade Mountain is a mountain marked on the Map of Pyrrhia. It is located somewhere in the south, near the border of the desert. From different approaches, it would look like a snake rising out of the ground to attack the clouds. It is the tallest mountain in the Claws of the Clouds mountain range, and it is currently being used as an inter-tribal school called the Jade Mountain Academy.

History

Jade Mountain is the place Kestrel told the dragonets to go if they needed her near the end of the first book, The Dragonet Prophecy. There is a so-called "dragon of Jade Mountain" that was mentioned, whose tribe and gender were unknown, but this dragon was reported as an ally of the Talons of Peace. (This mysterious dragon was later revealed to be Stonemover).

It is confirmed in the book, by a lost letter Thorn had never received on time, that the mountain has some significant importance in the story. In the letter, the dragon of Jade Mountain is the NightWing, Stonemover, Sunny's father. He is found there inside, residing on the ground, unmoving, yet living. A fox called Dinner was delivering Stonemover's food for him.

Jade Mountain is introduced as the location of Jade Mountain Academy, and is the featured location in Moon Rising. The caves have been renovated into a school environment, with caves leading to classrooms, dorms, a library, a nursing station, and a prey center. Hunting parties, formed of volunteers, regularly provide food for the prey center. Many things took place at the new academy, included an attempted murder.

The beginning chapters of Escaping Peril take place in Jade Mountain, and the rising of Darkstalker occurs near Jade Mountain.

Jade Mountain is mentioned by Clearsight while she was talking with Darkstalker, before sealing him in Agate Mountain. It was also mentioned that Jade Mountain used to be only the second tallest mountain, until an earthquake caused a part of the tallest mountain of the time, Agate Mountain, to collapse.

Inhabitants

Some dragons are shown to live within or around Jade Mountain. As well as Sunny’s father, animus NightWing Stonemover, the mountains are now a school/home for 35 dragonets and 5 teachers (along with Fatespeaker as a staff member) at Jade Mountain Academy.
