The Great Ice Dragon is an ancient IceWing legend likely from the days of the Scorching. Who or what the Great Ice Dragon is is currently unknown, but it was confirmed by Tui that we will hear more information about it in The Dangerous Gift.

Icicle mentions the Great Ice Dragon in her thoughts on page 226: "By the teeth of the Great Ice Dragon, this is boring as sand. I shall certainly tell Mother and Father and Aunt Glacier what a waste of time this entire school is."

Prince Arctic compares Snowflake to Foeslayer using the Great Ice Dragon. When Snowflake and Snowfox are talking about a way to stop him from marrying Snowflake, they mention that he will notice that he isn't "the Great Ice Dragon's gift to the world".
