Gharial is a male MudWing who was introduced in The Dangerous Gift. He was formerly a soldier under Burn during the War of SandWing Succession. He and his troops teamed up with Blaze's army to fight Blister. He is currently in a relationship with Princess Crystal and resides in Sanctuary.
Description
Gharial has brown scales,[1] a flat, square head, and heavy talons.[2] Queen Snowfall describes him as quite ordinary-looking.[1]
Biography
The Lost Continent Prophecy
After Snowfall unknowingly attacked Crystal, Gharial charged onto Snowfall to protect her. Snowfall attacked him back, thinking he was trying to assassinate her, and severely injuring him with the help of the gift of strength. When Crystal rushed in to check on Gharial, Snowfall figured out that the whole reason Crystal disappeared from the Ice Kingdom was because of Gharial. Crystal merely wanted to spend time with him, and did not want to break the oath to her mother, Glacier, to not kill Snowfall.
Gharial was mentioned several times later, when Snowfall remembered how Crystal left the kingdom not because she presumably wanted to assassinate her but truthfully, it was because of her love for Gharial.
Snowfall gave Crystal her permission to marry Gharial if she wanted to. Although Crystal was a little snippy about Snowfall's wording, she was deeply grateful for Snowfall's approval.
Relationships
After Snowfall attacked Gharial, Crystal shrieked and pelted after him, crouching beside him and asking if he was all right.[3] He has a moony expression when he looks at her, and they are physically affectionate towards one another.[4] Crystal is in love with him, and after they met during the War of SandWing Succession, she could not stop thinking about him.[5]
Snowfall attacked Gharial upon meeting him, and was surprised to learn about his relationship with Crystal.[5] Eventually, Snowfall gave Crystal her permission to marry Gharial.[6]
