- "What's really not fair is the biggest difference between me and those dragons, [...] They all had someone who loved them. No one ever loved me! Not that I care; I don't care, I don't care. But that's the unfair part, actually."
- — Freedom to Luna, The Flames of Hope
Freedom, named Lizard by Cottonmouth, was a female dragonet who appears in The Flames of Hope. She made up half of the consciousness of the othermind, along with Cottonmouth.
Appearance
Freedom had brittle[1] shiny orange and green scales,[2] and green wings that curved like leaves.[3] The shape of her eyes were reminiscent of a RainWing's,[3] and they were covered by a white film, overlaid by a shimmer of mossy green[4]. She had bright white little teeth.[5] There was a plant growing through her head, emerging from the top of her skull before continuing into Cottonmouth's.[2] She resembled a combination of several tribes,[3] and had a high, clear voice.[6] Her leafspeak was only strong enough to double a plant's normal growth speed, and make them move a bit with proximity.[7] Keeping plants in a particular place is a tiring for her.[8]
Personality
Freedom was entitled, loud, and fierce, having lived a short life in which she never experienced feelings like compassion. She believed that her life was the worst so she had no reason to feel bad for anyone else, since they should all be feeling bad for her. [9] She thought that she was most like Snowfall out of all the dragons she saw in the memories.[10] She got mad easily and hated Cottonmouth completely. However, she changed after Luna introduced her to the concept of friendship and love, eventually allowing Luna to end her life in order to save the world.

Relationships
Freedom hated Cottonmouth for killing her before she lived a normal dragon life. Meanwhile, Cottonmouth finds her annoying and inferior. It is said that Cottonmouth convinced her that all dragons are vicious, and that they don't have feelings. Cottonmouth also gave her the name 'Lizard'. However, they were bound to each other forever, working together to control the breath of evil. They know that they need each other to continue 'living'. She finds his story boring.
Luna was kind to Freedom and she felt bad for Freedom's life.[11][page # needed] Luna told Freedom that she would give Freedom her memories in exchange for helping Luna's friends.[12][page # needed] Freedom didn't understand why Luna didn't just abandon Blue and run away.[13][page # needed] Luna responded that she loved him, which Freedom detested.[13][page # needed] Luna then got the idea to show her memories of dragons from different tribes. Freedom still called them bland, and said she was nothing like any of them.[14][page # needed] Luna then compared her to all of them, showing her that they all had bits and pieces that were similar to Freedom.[14][page # needed] This showed Freedom sympathy. Freedom then allowed Luna to cut the plant, killing her and Cottonmouth in the process.
Freedom considered Dusky a friend. She absorbed his memories and claimed to find them boring. Dusky also gave her a hug, which she called 'stupid'. She played with him in the othermind's mindspace, drawing in the dirt and wrestling,[15][16] and took his suggestion to adopt a new name before her second death.[17]
