The dragonmancers are a supposedly powerful group of scavengers, or humans, residing in and presumably ruling over Talisman. The dragonmancers are Master Trout, Crow, and Gorge. There were originally four dragonmancers, but one was sacrificed to the dragons so the others could increase their share of treasure.
At the beginning of Dragonslayer the dragonmancers attempted to sacrifice Wren during the Gift for the Dragons ceremony, and because of the them, Wren ended up as a misanthrope. According to Rowan, there have been others sacrificed before her, including several unnamed dragonmancer apprentices.
