Although the dragonmancers claim to occasionally have visions, which apparently urge them to offer 'gifts' to the dragons, these are established as false early on in [[Dragonslayer]]. These 'gifts' are usually younger people known to misbehave and disobey the orders of the dragonmancers, who are tied up and left out in the open where dragons can easily see them. [[Wren]] is currently the only named sacrifice.
