Darkstalker's scroll

Darkstalker's Talisman was a scroll with a black leather binding enchanted to hold the animus power of Darkstalker, which he created in order to be able to use animus magic without fear of losing his soul. By writing on a piece of the scroll, any dragon could use it at will. The talisman was about one third used, with many parts ripped off. At the end of Escaping Peril, Peril destroys the talisman by burning it in her claws using her firescales, causing Darkstalker to crawl out of a mountain near Jade Mountain, free. What most likely happened was that once the scroll was destroyed, the power was returned to him; however, this has not been confirmed.

History

Pre-Series:

Darkstalker used the talisman for many things. The talisman was described as one third was written on, and Chameleon claimed not to have written any of it. The only enchantment that was written by Darkstalker that was read was for Prince Arctic to obey all commands from Darkstalker.

Chameleon was the only other dragon known to use the scroll pre-series. He used it to make other forms for himself, an enchanted necklace for Peril, the Pyrite enchantment, and the hoop earring for Tourmaline which turned her into Ruby. Using his form of Soar, he had a dragonet with Kestrel, known to be Peril. Due to the fact he was in SkyWing form, Peril is a full SkyWing, rather than a half RainWing and half SkyWing hybrid. Chameleon also has a few other known forms: Shapeshifter (NightWing), Cirrus (IceWing), and unnamed forms for each of the other tribes.

Winter Turning

Hailstorm was "hidden" by taking the form of Pyrite, a SkyWing, for two years, and when the necklace containing the scroll piece is forcibly removed he/she turns back into Hailstorm. However, after being Pyrite for so long, his memories are an unclear jumbled mess.

Escaping Peril

During Escaping Peril, Chameleon used the scroll multiple times for Scarlet. Scarlet had Chameleon create a necklace for Peril that removed her firescales, made her completely loyal to Scarlet, and took away all her memories of Clay. The talisman's last use was by Chameleon to change Tourmaline back into Ruby.

Chameleon used pieces of the scroll to transform himself into entirely different dragons of different species, partially to make up for the fact that he cannot change his scales. He can take the forms of Cirrus the IceWing, Soar the SkyWing, Shapeshifter the NightWing, in addition to unknown SandWing, SeaWing, and MudWing forms. Chameleon uses the scroll to assist Ex-Queen Scarlet in exchange for treasure. Pyrite is a fake dragon that anyone can become by wearing the piece of this scroll (in a necklace) that Chameleon presumably wrote.

Later Peril gets hold of the Talisman and burns it. Because it was broken, Darkstalker can then receive his power and escape the mountain, though this is still unconfirmed as of now.
