A brightest night is a celestial phenomenon occurring once every hundred years, wherein all three of Pyrrhia's moons are full simultaneously.

Description

Brightest nights occur when all three of Pyrrhia's moons are full on the same night.

NightWings in the time of Darkstalker thought that hatching under three full moons would give the dragonet animus power, but it was later concluded that the third moon would only enhance their powers of prophecy and mind-reading.[1]

Timeline

  • Two brightest nights have occurred in the series — one around 3,007 AS (Darkstalker's hatching night) and one in 5,005 AS (the hatching of the dragonets of destiny).[1][2]
  • A false brightest night occurred in 5,011 AS during the events of The Brightest Night.[3] This was caused by a comet passing through the sky, acting as a false fourth moon and causing earthquakes on the Pyrrhian continent.[4]

Trivia

  • The NightWings once believed that the third full moon granted animus magic.[5]
