Clay the Bigwing

Bigwings are the eldest and largest dragonet in a MudWing clutch. They are the first to hatch, and they help their younger siblings hatch by cracking open their siblings' eggshells from the outside. When grown, they become the leader of the sibling group (also known as sibs).

If a group of siblings loses its bigwings or several other members of its group, the clutch will form a new group with another MudWing clutch, also known as unsibs. They look out for their clutch at all times and lead them.

Known Bigwings

Clay was originally the bigwings of his clutch, however, because of his absence as a Dragonet of Destiny, Reed, the second oldest, took his place.

Queen Moorhen is the bigwings of her sib group, and has four siblings at least.

It can be assumed that all MudWing queens are royal bigwings, as no queen has ever been challenged by her sister, only by daughters or other female relatives. This is because Mudwing brothers and sisters are extremely loyal to each other, especially to their bigwings.

Trivia

  • When Clay was hatched, his bigwings instincts told him to help the other eggs to hatch, but was mistaken by the dragonets' guardians as attacking them. He thinks he is a monster for the majority of The Dragonet Prophecy before discovering he was just trying to help.
  • Bigwings can be used as a singular and plural noun.
